Is he a lock as a #3 WR this year or not? He was 2nd round rookie pick last year, had a great post-season, Some of the things I've been reading this preseason says he's "fighting for the #3 spot" but when I see the no-name competition on the depth chart I wonder how that can possibly be. What is the likelyhood he could be a solid #2 or #1 WR in the future (dynasty considerations here). Toomer is ancient and Burress is only another year or 2 away from "old" as well. Considering the high draft pick and improvement during his rookie season, it seems he should be forecasting into a #2 WR role in a year or so.

Manningham will be the #2 in a year or so if Burress is still around, not Smith.

Based on what exactly? I can't find where I read it, but I did just see a report that Steve Smith will be the #3 this year as he's beaten out Sinorice Moss again for the spot. Hixon will back up Burress. Moss is the #5 and Manningham #6.
