Any SA Owners still in the hunt? (1 Viewer)

The choice to buck the Madden Curse and draft SA has ruined many a FF season this year. If you are still in contention for a playoff spot tell us what you did to maintain and what your current standing is.

I'm 5-5 & still alive.. I was 5-2 but have lost 3 straight games.. My Wr's have

been carrying me all year..

Holt

Owens

Colston

Driver

The thing that really gets me upset is the fact I could of had LT with those

receivers...

Oh well.. I just hope Alexander can come back this week & help out..

I'm in the hunt at 5-5 and suddenly looking very tough to beat.

Bulger

Tiki

SA

Driver

Harrison

Roy Williams

Winslow

Feely

Pittsburgh

7-3 and leading my 14 team league as a result of may WW pick-ups and several trades (including LT)

See below:

So it seems like you guys relied on WR's to carry the load (well, having Tiki doesn't hurt)?

I'm currently at 6-4 but only 1 game up in my division. Portis and my WR's helped me stay above water (we only have to start 1 RB). Now I have:

Bulger

SA

Lewis (ugh, but I don't have to play him IF SA is ok)

Wayne

Driver

Fitzgerald

Lewis or Watson

Kaeding

Chiefs or Seahawks

7-3 Dynasty League:

Palmer, Leinart, A.Smith

Shaun, T.Jones, Deuce, Deangelo, Foster, Turner

Walker, Stallworth, MaClayton, R.Smith, B.Jones, D.Carter, M.Floyd, De Williams,

Gates, Daniels, Scheffler

Wilkens

Dallas D

Getting Shaun back is going to be sweet for a push to make the playoffs (12 team league, 4 teams make it.)

5-5 and 1 game back. Lost 3 straight.

Still play the team in 1st once more and a win would give me all the tiebreakers over him.

QBBC - Rex, Ben, Jax QB

RB - Chester and MJD

WR - Anquan, Chambers, Santana, Randy

K - Graham

DEF - New England

I've gotten lucky once or twice with the QBBC move although starting Garrard over Ben last week screwed me. DOH! Santana won one game all by himself.

I need some Shaun Axe points man...BAD.

7-3 after upseting the stacked defending champ (keep 4 + 1 rook league)

roster in sig. My WR's rock and have carried me all year. Shaun and Willis have killed me. Hopefully i start reaping the rewards of being patient soon.

O yeah, just traded leon for ladell betts. I think he'll score more points down the stretch.

Started 7-0 (thank you McNabb, Ravens D), now 8-2. Was leading scorer up until last week and finally overtaken by LT owner. Kills me that I passed on LT of rthe 'safer' SA because I had just nabbed LT in another league and didn't want 2 leagues to rely on same player ( :wall: ). Really need the old SA for playoff run.

McNabb

SA (and Morris), Gore, Foster, J Lewis

Holt, Harrison, Colston, Muhammad, Furrey

LJ Smith

Feely

Ravens, Broncos

Dang...what did you give up to get LT (since you already used your top pick on SA), or was the trading partner a guppy?
After week 4 before LT became Superman, the LT owner was really hurting in all positions so I gave Dunn / T Jones / TJ Whosyourmomma (a monster at this time)

I'm 6-3

QB - Vick, S. Wallace

RB - Thomas Jones, Cedric Benson, MoMo, ALEXANDER, Chris Perry, Mewelde Moore

WR - Raggie Wayne, Chad Johnson, Darrell Jackson

TE - LJ Smith, J Stevens

K - John Carney

DEF - BEARS!

Strangely enough, started 0-3 with SA starting, now sitting at 6-4, playoffs clinched. I owe it 100% to Kevin Jones. I traded for him week 3, and haven't looked back since. I'll keep kicking myself for passing on LJ and LT though.

Funny, I traded KJ for Reggie Wayne after week 2. Alexander was still "healthy" then.Oh well, still 6-3 and he's back!

I'm 6-4 thanks to drafting McNabb and snagging Colston before anyone thought he was "for real" as they say. I kept Alexander and S. Moss in my 2 player keeper league. Needless to say I am thrilled to be in the hunt still. I'm in a 4 way tie for second with 2 owners tied for first at 7-3.

QB - McNabb

RB - S. Alexander, J. Lewis, Brandon Jacobs, Anthony Thomas, Leon Washington, Musa Smith, M Bell, S Gado

WR - S Moss, B. Edwards, M. Colston, M. Furrey, J. Cotchery,

TE - Shockey

K - Kaeding

D - SD

After writing down this crappy team, I am really thrilled!!!

I'm tied for second at 6-4

Been using Ahman Green, DJax, Javon Walker, Gonzo

And my defense has really helped... Witherspoon, D. Ryans, Tatupu

8-2 in one league where I have Alexander.

Mcnabb has been my horse and usually one or two of the following guys has a big week to keep me winning: Gore, Chestor Taylor, Holt, Driver, Javon Walker.

I am 6-7 (we have a few double headers). Currently 2 games ahead for the last division playoff spot.

Holt and westbrook have kept me alive.

Go SA!!!

And go Steelers!!!

:towelwave:

I'm 7-3 in first in my league (12 team keeper league), basically Colston has kept me alive. Going against the LT owner this week- hope I get some points from SA.

I'm 5-5, 4th in my division although I'm the 3rd highest scoring team in a 12-team league. Only top three teams make the playoffs, so I've traded SA and some other parts for T. Jones and Chad Johnson...which unfortunately him blowing up last week didn't help. I need some luck to make the playoffs, but think I control my own destiny by playing teams ahead of me to end the season.

Luckily, my picks of K. Jones and Walker have kept me alive up until this point...here's to hoping Boldin and Gates can turn it on sooner rather than later :banned:

7-3 but traded Maroney and B. Edwards for SA once he went down.

Brees/Favre

Alexander/T.Jones/Caddy/MoMo/Portis

CJ/Driver/Key/M.Jones

Heap/Stevens

Graham/Scobee

I'm 6-4 and tied for first in my division. Drafting Gore and Wayne, and picking Colston up off of the waiver wire have kept me in it. Plus we play IDP and drafting Bullock and Ryans were a big help.

The SA owner in our league is 5-5. To prove that luck is a huge part of this game, here are the primary players on his roster that have been able to get him to 5-5 (12 team keeper league -- he is second lowest in points):

QB: Rivers, Culpepper

RB: Henry, Betts, M. Morris

WR: Roy Williams, Horn, Glenn, Randle-El

TE: Witten

D: Miami

I was getting my #### beat all year...I pulled some slick trades for ronnie brown and TO...

but is still in 7th place at 4-6.

Thank god this league has 8 making playoffs :banned:

because when fully healthy,

my roster has SA, Fitzgerald, TO, ROnnie brown, Walker, Shockey, Balt D

I'm 8-2 and tied for 1st. I had some pretty good depth and made couple of good WW pick ups that have helped me.

Bulger/Vick

SA, Kevin Jones, Thomas Jones, Deuce Mcallister, Michael Turner

Holt, Driver,Antonio Bryant, Isaac Bruce

Shockey, Lj Smith

Stover

Seattle

I'm the second seed at 6-4. I've survived because of minor overhauls, good waiver wire pickups and playing some matchups.

My current roster:

QB: M. Hasselback, C. Frye

WR: T. Owens, H. Ward, J. Walker, J. Cotchery

RB: S. Alexander, M. Morris, W. McGahee, A. Thomas, L. Washington, M. Turner

TE: B. Watson

K: Josh Brown

DEF: DEN, KC

WR/TE: M. Colston <Yahoo league, I play him at TE often, considering he was on the WW until week 2, I have no ethical problems starting him at TE, a couple years ago when C. Cooley was big and was a RB/TE he was used at RB a couple times during some bad bye weeks for an owner>

I hope my signautre will show up and you can see my original roster. Main thing was using the WW aggressively, I mean Colston is big for me and scooping up. Leon allows me to have the option between 3 starting RBs. If you league has flex positions than use them smartly. Play defense and K by committee. Most owners tend to be lazy with their K and DEF, so try to squeeze any small edges you can out of those positions. Finally, I know most people aren't fans of handcuffing, but if you have a top 3 pick and you draft the stud RB, get his backup if its a seemingly above average one. Bigger and deeper the league is, the more important it is to do so. I'm in a 12 team 17 player bench league, by the time the draft is over, there's no one left that you'd want on your roster, until they come out of nowhere to blow up. In our league the first six rounds are just to announce your keepers. I picked up M. Morris at 10.11. Has he panned out as well as most hoped? No. But at least he gets a starting RB touches and is on a decent team with a decent line. He won't win me games, but he won't lose me games. I rather roll the dice with Morris in a good matchup vs. having to deal with guessing which HOU RB to play or playing some part-time player like N. Herron. Anyways, I hope that helps. If all else fails, just get lucky. =)

edited to remove duplication of sig. The roster in my sig was my roster at the start of week 2.

Drafted Alexander at 1.02, Dunn at 2.11, and K Jones at 3.01. Earlier in the year I traded K Jones and Michael Clayton for T Jones and R Williams.

It's about a strong finish, not a strong start. I have made it 10-0, only to taper off quickly and get squashed in the playoffs.

I'm playoff bound in my one league with Alexander. Drafting Kevin Jones (currently RB6), Frank Gore (RB8), and Cory Dillon (RB22)certainly helped.

7 - 3 and in second place. It was looking dicey after he went down as my top two RB's were Droughns and Ahman Green. I traded Randy Moss and Eli Manning for Willie Parker and T.J. Houshmanzadah. I also had McNabb and Torry Holt.

SA owner in my league is 2-8, but only 2 games back in his WEAK division with 3 reg season games left. He could make the playoffs.

Its all about getting hot at the right time.

I'm 5-5 and 4th in points in 10 team, first year keeper league. Maurice Drew (RB12), Gore (RB 8), Chester Taylor (RB 10) have all helped keep me afloat. Waiving Ben Watson, and not being able to retain him has hurt. Passing on Larry Johnson for Alexander is still giving me nightmares.

QB: Brett Favre, Philip Rivers

RB: Shaun Alexander, Frank Gore, Chester Taylor, Maurice Drew, Reggie Bush, Laurence Maroney, Marion Barber III, and Ladell Betts

WR: Torry Holt, Donald Driver

TE: Dallas Clark

K: Adam Vinatieri

Def: San Diego

I realize my roster looks weird, but this is a start 2 RB/WR, and 1 Flex (RB/WR). I'd rather have all of the above RB's than the top WR's available (Evans, Bruce, Clayton or Mason).

I am 8-2 in my league and if I win this week, I will lock up the division. SA and S. Smith are my keepers and I was able to snatch K. Jones as RB#2, which has helped greatly. We start 3 WRs and I ended up with Wayne and Burress as my #2 and #3, respectively. They have pretty much carried my team. Add in a late flyer on Vick and excellent IDPs. I hope SA comes back as his 2005 version; playoffs should be a given.

I'm 6-4 in the 12 team H2H league in which I own SA. My roster is (we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DST, 1 K):

Palmer; Roethlisberger

SA; Westbrook; Gore; Norwood; CBuck; M Robinson

Andre Johnson; Chambers; Jennings; Keyshawn

LJ Smith

Philly; Buff

Stover; Feely

---

I haven't been scoring well, but have been lucky in opponent matchups. The waiver wire is thin, and I hate carrying 2 kickers but I am running low on fantasy $$ (which we use for blind bidding on FAs & for trades). Obviously, Palmer & Gore were big for me week 10.

Gore actually has a nice schedule (hope his melon is o.k.), so I plan to sit SA at least his 1st start back. Our trade deadline is now passed as well (I could get next to nothing for SA, that's why he's still on my roster).

The league in my signature (a keeper league) is 10 - 0.

But one redraft I have managed a 5-3-2 record (tied with the same guy twice, what are the odds?) while McNabb, Owens, Andre Johnson, McAllister, Winslow and Frank Gore have helped me out. I had also been starting MJD when he was hot.

I'm presently 3rd so getting SA back can only help.

I'm 8-2 in a keeper league with SA. 1st place with a 1 game lead on the 2nd place team.

QB- Vick, Kitna, Romo

WR- Torry Holt, Terrell Owens, Anquan Boldin, Terry Glenn

RB- Ronnie Brown, Kevin Jones, Shaun Alexander, Julius Jones

TE- Ben Watson, Jason Witten

K- Adam Vinatieri

Aside from SA, I've been pretty lucky. I picked up Kevin Jones in the offseason for nothing, picked up Ben Watson before the Branch situation, and acquired Ronnie Brown before Ricky retired.

6-4. After posting our league's all time lowest score week 6, I traded Peyton Manning for Chad Johnson and Chester Taylor, and then added Favre off the waiver wire during his bye week (had to start Gradkowski at some point in there). That and Morris having 2 solid weeks in a row has been enough to put together a 4 game winning streak and tie for the division lead.

5-5 and I don't know how I've managed to stay afloat. I have an outside chance of winning the division if Shaun gets back in there and starts churning out some 100 yard, 2 TD efforts. I started 0-3 and got lucky with a few waiver wire pick-ups (mainly Colston). My team now looks like this...

(ww)=waiver wire

Grossman (ww), Vick

Foster, Bush, D.Williams, Washington (ww), M.Bell (ww), Alexander

Colston (ww), Chambers, Henry, Caldwell (ww), Floyd (ww)

Watson, Desmond Clark (ww)

Gould (ww)

Pats, Dolphins (ww)

Henry's been good for a TD most weeks I've started him and Chambers is hopefully coming on at the right time. To compete with the best teams in the league though, I still need Alexander to come through. :football:

have SA in 2 leagues.

#1

an 8-5 record .

I actually traded down from the #1 pick and took him with the #3 pick.

the extra picks have helped.

so has my 3rd round pick, willie parker.

plus , getting robbie gould off the WW was a steal.

#2

I started out 3-0.

then lost 7 straight.

larry fitzgerald's injury didn't help either.

I have Alexander at $51 in a salary cap keeper league. I managed to trade up to get LT at $42(traded Edge at $55 and the 13th pick overall, had already traded 12 overall to the same owner for Edge the year before.) I then was able to draft McNabb and Housh at 36,37. I'm the points leader but am a game back in the division and 2 back in the wild card, pending an unfavorable ruling on the McNabb TD pass from last weekend.
