Any way to incorporate legends into fantasy football? (1 Viewer)

I was thinking about adding a twist into a new dynasty league. Is there any way to incorporate the legends into a league?

Maybe have 1 per team and every year we will take a year for each player (like the 1st year we will use the 3rd year of each of our legends stats) (the 2nd year of the dynasty we would use the 5th year) every year it would be random and would not be known at the time of the "legend" draft.

I am just trying to think of a way to bring back the greats.

Any ideas?

The way you presented it is the way I would go. That is a good idea. Also, not knowing what year of the legend you will be getting will incorporate the possible "bust" factor into those picks. For instance, say you take Jerry Rice, it is possible you get the injured ACL season or the 20+ TD season.

I have toyed with starting an after the fact fantasy league with each owner allowed to draft any player that there are individual game day stats for (so roughly the past 12 seasons). Each owner would pick any of three "best seasons" that he wanted to pick (so maybe 1998, 2001, 2004 for example).

Each side would have their starting lineup, and then roll dice to determine what their stats would be. Roll a single 6-sided die to determine which season (1-2 = Year 1, 3-4 = Year 2, 5-6 = Year 3). Roll a 16-sided die to determine which week it was (no week 17 games allowed). If a week turns out to be a bye week, that player in not eligible to play that week and someone else would need to be played from the bench. Add up the scores for that week. Repeat as many weeks to complete a full fantasy season (obviously using each week only one time) and fantasy playoffs too. If the dice ended up on a week where a player was out not from a bye week, too bad so sad. Injuries happen.

I like that but I would want most of the stats comming from players playing right now. Maybe each team have 1 player, or 1 QB, 1 RB, and 1 WR.That way a 3 round "legends" draft would work and be even.

Award Pts for appearances on Celebrity Reality TV Shows?

In reality, I think your idea sounds fine and would offer a nice twist, but perhaps rather than just randomizing a season, why not randomize weekly. That way you don't know what you'd get each week (similar to Real FF). If you just randomized the season once you knew the season you'd know his weekly output (which brings up another question, would you allow benching the "great")

The weeks could be randamized by the 16 sided dice David was talking about.

Another problem is that I would want to use MFL and I dont know how that would work. Can you add custom players?

Yes, but it's complicated, and adding in the scoring by hand for the old timers would be tricky, if they even let you do it.

This is a bad idea. You will have to limit it to players who played 16 game seasons so you are already eliminating many of the great ones.
