Anyone bullish on Jason Cambell this year? (1 Viewer)

and if so, who is the go to WR on OAK this year?I am definitely intrigued by Cambell.
WHY???A quarterback with some upside but a guy who has Never done it on a team that is really terribleI guess if you play in a twenty team league and draft a QB late...maybe.....or in start two QB leaguesOtherwise he is at best a speculative bye week fillin

Depends on what you mean by "bullish".

I expect Campbell to perform as a mid level QB2 for years to come, with potential to become a high end 2/low end 1. I think he's been written off as worthless far too quickly, so I'm more "bullish" on him then most...but a QB2 isn't exactly a valued fantasy asset except in 2 QB leagues.

It would be hard to be "bullish" on Jason Campbell this year. If he can continue his steady eddie production that he had in Washington, the Raiders should improve record wise, and be competitive in the AFC West. But this offense is in transition and learning to compete will need some baby steps. He's not going to sniff the top 12 in QB rating, so draft him as a nice QB #2 and be happy about it. He will outperform some notable QBs. You could do much worse.

The Raiders are a worse place for him than the Skins was, Al Davis likes fast WRs and throwing the ball deep. Campbell has a horrid deep ball.He has the arm strength, the problem is he throws it to flat so the WR doesn't have the chance to run under the ball. Troy Aikman pointed it out about 3-4 years ago, and since I've had either Campbell, Moss or Cooley on my squad each year, and haven't seen any improvement. Santana Moss would be streaking down the field wide open 1-2 times a game and Campbell would miss him. That kills DHB's value. Maybe Schilen's combination of height and speed can compensate for the lack of arch on the deep ball.

Couldn't find Aikman's comment during the game but he said this in 9/23/2007 Aikman on Jason Campbell: “Jason is improving every week and he has impressed me with his poise. Everyone knows he has the arm to put the ball anywhere on the field he wants he just needs to find the touch but that will come.

I'm bullish on Zack Miller.
+1
+2I think Miller is a candidate for 1000 yds this year.I like Campbell's prospects this year. I do think he's underrated. The guy has had to learn a new offensive system *every year* he's been under center, including this year too - that is no small feat. However, the guy is a class act with a top-notch work ethic. I see him making it work. There is a lot of young talent in Oakland right now. I think they could surprise this year.

i'm looking for a big year out of schilens with his arrival. campbell was 15th in my league last season, and i thought that offense was horrid, so i could see him moving to the 10-15 range.

I don't understand why he is continually ranked so low, while continually finishing has a high qb 2. He won't be an elite quarterback in this league, but he still has value as a high end qb2. compared to washington, I look at oaklands skill positions as an improvement. Not to mention the offensive line is better as well.

Not bullish on Campbell per say but i am bullish on what a QB other than Russel can do for the Oak rushing attack. ( Alll those 3rd downs Russell could not convert a good number will be converted by a pass to Zach Miller so count me among the Miller bandwagon )

I used to feel this way, but I don't see why he hasn't been able to get better touch on his passes. Because his deep ball is thrown so flat, he has to be alot more accurate, and he doesn't have the accuracy to do that. Which is easier to improve touch or accuracy? My guess would be touch, atleast it seems to be what improves quickest of the two with most young QBs.

JC was too busy learning 700 new offenses to work on things like touch. 2010 is just another year and another offense.

Probably one of the worst deep ball throwers out there. Has a looong delivery. Won't take chances and will check down a lot. Has been using the "new system" crutch for quite some time. At some point you just have it or you don't, regardless of how many systems you are in. I'm pretty sure every system out there says don't hold the ball too long and throw it to the open guy down field. He can't even do that sometimes. That being said, in a 2 QB or flex QB league, he's certainly usable. Especially if the Raiders are playing from behind. Campbell would get some late game number padding so it helped his ranking last year. He's not Michael Vick, but he's got sneaky running ability. Long strider so it doesn't look like he's moving fast.
