Anyone concerned about Brady moving forward? (1 Viewer)

I'm surprised there wasn't more of a stir created over the stinker Brady threw up yesterday. I never expected my playoffs would be jeopardized by Brady's lack of success against a mediocre secondary. Sure, Miami's run defense is good. It was a safe assumption a Maroney-less Corey Dillon would have a tough day. But why didn't Brady do to Miami what he did to Chicago?

Brady's got a monkey on his back and it's wearing a Miami Dolphins' Jersey!

I'll save you the trouble of posting smart-alek emoticon:

:ptts: to myself

Well, he has quite a history against the Dolphins in not doing well against them for whatever reason.

Do you mean this year, or next? This year, he has HOU, @ Jax, @ Ten left. Two creampuff defenses sandwiched around a tough matchup (championship weekend nonetheless!) week 16. So he has one good matchup left before most of us are done with our season.

The OL was just overwhelmed and confused. With the NFL being a copy-cat league, I suspect they'll get more of the same. The Pats made no adjustments whatsoever at halftime yesterday. BB was clearly outcoached again for (at least) the second time this year - by another one of his disciples (Mangini being the other).

I have season tix, so I hope we get this ship turned around quickly!

I sat Brady this week for Kitna. I'll be back on Brady this week against Houston. I think it is an aberration. A Philly radio station was talking about Brady today and saying he is having a HORRIBLE season. He has had a couple of bad games but he is going to end up with 3,500 yards and 25 TD's. I dont think that is bad. Even from a Fantasy standpoint, he has been pretty good.

New England fans have been uneasy about Brady all year. This week did not bring anything new to light. Anybody that has watched Patriots football since Brady has taken over knows that we are witnessing a different Brady this year. Call it what you want, mental or physical. I personally think he's mentally not in it this year. The release of Givens, Vinatieri, and mostly Branch left Brady with a bad taste in his mouth about the organization he works for. He hasn't been able to let it go in my opinion. Not that he still dwells on it, but it is more like a domino effect on this season. It started off badly and has never fully recovered.

Now, some will say they're 9-4 for crying outload. Yes they are, against who? Who have we played that is any good and beaten convincingly. We dominated the Bengals before they really got on track. We beat Minnesota, ok. Squeezed out a home victory against a questionable Chicago team. However, at no point this year has Brady looked like the Brady that took this team to three superbowls. Not once. He's had good games, but he is not that enthusiastic, fearless leader that he's always been. This guy is usually a portrait of confidence.

Some will say, who does he have to throw to? True, but he's too good for that. When Brady is on his game I can go out there line up and have a good game as a receiver. That's an excuse.

Sorry about thelong winded response, but I just call it the way I see it. I haven't felt good about Brady from the first snap this year, and I honestly think that he was just so pissed at the organization from the off-season moves that it has really affected him throughout training camp and the season thus far.

I don't have Brady anywhere, but he does seem to struggle in games at Miami in particular.

'05 - 275, 2 TD, 2 Int, 23-16 win (IIRC, about 70 of those yards and a td came on the winning td very late in the game on a blown coverage)

'04 - 171, 3 TD, 4 Int, 29-28 loss

'03 - 283, 2 TD, 0 int, 1 fumble, 19-13 win

'02 - 240, 2 TD, 2 int, 26-13 loss

'01 - 86, 0 TD, 0 int, 2 fumble, 30-10 loss (although it should be pointed out this was his 2nd start, he did go for 364/2/0, and 202/3/0 the next two weeks)

So I'd say signs point to an aberration here, and he always seems to turn it over a bunch @ Miami. It should be noted after his bad game last year in Nov in Miami, he came back the next week against NO with 222/3/0. I'd expect him to bounce back similarly this week. If not, we could really be seeing the Pats fall apart right now.

Brady may represent some nice value next season for a couple reasons:

1. Some owners may have a bad taste in their mouth due to him "screwing up" their playoffs.

2. The emergence of some other guys as the "hot commoditites." Guys like Brees, Leinart, Garrard and Romo come to mind.

3. Their will always be the demand for guys like Peyton, Eli, Palmer, Vick, McNabb, Culpepper Etc...

In my mind, Brady will still be in my top 3 or 5. Hopefully he will represent some value :banned:

:goodposting: Fantasy wise, he is ranked #5 in my TD only league and #7 in my yardage league. All this during a so called "off" year. Thankfully for me, I had a bye in the league that I have him and played the team that had him in my TD only league. I will definately play him against Houston next week in the semifinals. I will also be glad to get him in the 6th round or later next year.

I know you're a Pats fan, so you're highs are high and your lows are low. But this is a misrepresentation of the facts. The Bengals were 3-0, playing very well, and coming off a win over the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. When the Pats beat the Bears, the Bears had the best record in the NFL and are currently no less than the 2nd best team in the NFL. The Pats' schedule may not have been stocked with great teams, but you're short-changing these two truly impressive victories. But to answer the original question: yes, I'm a bit concerned about Brady moving forward. I have him in both of my playoff dynasty leagues, and I'm concerned about the Pats in the playoffs due to their inability to stretch the field and make plays on offense. If Maroney & Watson aren't healthy and are unable to utilize their athleticism in the playoffs (and if Gabriel can't fight his way out of the doghouse), then the Pats' offense is stuck in slow motion.I'm moving Brees up to #3 in my dynasty rankings, and I actually gave some thought to moving Vince Young ahead of Brady before deciding against it. If Brady can't get some help on offense, the inconsistency is going to continue to be a problem.
