Anyone ever had a family member murdered? (1 Viewer)

FG, sorry for your loss. My cousin was killed on 9/11 in the North Tower of WTC. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and had a 3 month old son. I know this was a different form of murder on a larger scale but it still brings back memories of him every time I ever hear a reference to 9/11 which is almost daily.

That sucks

:(

btw - How did they know he was murdered before the body was found? Did one of the animals buckle under pressure?

When I was in my teens, there was a guy that would hang out with us that was rumored to be wanted by the mob. It was a running joke to not stand too close to him when he was around in case of a hit. One day he was arrested for trying to break IN to prison. A few months later his body was found in a garbage bag cut into pieces.

None of that has been released due to the ongoing investigation. Only his mom, dad, sister and my dad know the details. They're not allowed to discuss it.

I don't have a family member that was murdered, but I have an older brother who committed murder.

He is/was a career crimminal. He is currently serving potentially his final year in a 20-Life sentence.

I personally love my brother, but it would be my wish to see him not be released. Ever.

I often think about the family of the man whose life he took, and feel great sorrow toward them.
Woa. Care to elaborate and share the story?[/

This occurred approx 20 years ago so my memory is sort of cloudy. The last time I saw my brother was when I visited him while he was waiting to stand trial. He was out of prison on parole and was hanging out in a bar looking for a "mark" when he saw a guy flashing a lot of cash in a bar. He hung out with him for a couple of hours and they were going to leave that bar together to go to another joint where at that point in the parking lot my brother killed him while attempting to rob him. I am unsure if he committed the crime with a knife, a gun, or with some other object like a club of some kind. He never confessed the crime to me - he only shared with me the way the case had been presented at the grand jury. As he told me the story, I never had any doubt that he committed the crime.

Shortly after that he sent a letter to the family stating he no longer wanted any contact from the family.

My cousin was killed on 9/11. He worked at Euro Brokers in the south tower. He was 29 years old and only six weeks away from the birth of his first child. He was on the phone with his younger brother shortly after the first plane hit, said he was evacuating. Then the second tower was hit. He never made it out.

Just found out my cousin was murdered. He was only 31. There are only 5 cousins in my family and we all grew up near each other. Pretty brutal stuff. Can't believe someone in my family was actually murdered.
Condolences to you & your family.

No murders in my family, but a very dear friend of mine, Lollie Winans, was murdered several years ago on Memorial Day weekend, while she was hiking the Appalachian Trail in Virginia, with her dog and a girlfriend. Lollie was just about to graduate from college. She was one of the most giving people I have ever known, she had a great smile and always a big, warm hug. How I found out she had been murdered was bizarre. Memorial Day weekend I was hiking with a group of people up on Mt. Mansfield , got to talking with an attractive gal who turned out to work at the college Lollie was attending, so Lollie's name came up. This gal the told me: "We're having a memorial service for her next Sunday." I didn't understand what she meant, and she was like, "Oh my God, you didn't know. Lollie was murdered..." The rest of the hike I was just shocked, in a daze, just couldn't wrap my head around why someone would kill such a sweet, vibrant young woman. But, if I hadn't found out, I would have missed the memorial service. I went, I spoke at it. Writing this makes me sad. I still miss her after all these years. They did eventually catch the scumbag who did it. he killed both Lollie & her friend, Julie Williams. Only the dog survived. Funny, I can't remember the dog's name, but it will come to me. Anyway, the guy who did it was in prison for some other crime, and confessed to a cellmate who then ratted him out. Otherwise we may have never known who did it, and Lollie's ex-BF was a "person of interest". FBI called me and had scheduled to interview me, but cancelled because of a major snowstorm & never rescheduled. Just so senseless.
Small world.
Friend of Lollie's? She was a Michigander, but as I recall she worked in Minn for a bit, either before or during college.
Julie
Small world indeed. My sympathies for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss Flap. T&P to your family.

My wife's uncle was killed (manslaughter) about 5 years ago. It happened in a bar late at night, so there are many versions of the story depending on who you talk to. Bottom line is that some drunk didn't like something that he was doing. Came up from behind him, put him in a choke hold and crushed his windpipe. My wife's mother and grandparents were pretty devastated by it.

The killer was only sentenced to 5 years. He served a little over 3 and was released. As if the loss of their son/brother wasn't bad enough. It pained them just as much to see the light sentence and early release.

Been over 2 years but the guy who was the accomplice plead down and will get 25 years.  He's also testifying against the main guy in trial this summer.  Murdering piece of ####.  So angry.  I want to beat both of them to death with a sharp object.
