Anyone ever try having a draft right before NFL kickoffs... (1 Viewer)

Anyone every try to have a draft the morning of the NFL games? I realize the Thursday game is done and those players couldn't be counted but has anyone ever tried this? I think I did once a couple years back and am thinking of trying it out this Sunday if we fill the league.

Anyways, should make it really interesting to watch Countdown and see if player's move in the draft right?

I tried a few times and it never finishes by gametime

What about pausing 15 minutes or so before gametime if it's getting close for everyone to submit a lineup and then finishing the draft.

I hated that it lingerred and I missed the "WOW it's football season" felling for the first hour of Sunday.(Thursday doesn't count in my mind/sunday routine) Then it became geesh glad that's over so I can watch. Stupid feeling I enjoy and just wouldn't give it up again

hey wait a sec though, you want to start a league go for it. My experience does not mean yours will be rough. I just recommend enforcing a time limit so it's definitely over at 1pm EST. No excuses period.

Seriously, didn't mean to rain on your parade here

Am going to set a 2-min time limit. I realize 192 picks even at 1min/pick would take 3 hours but I think the league will be people who know what they are doing/ready to pick, etc.I think the closest league I've been in to a 1-min clock is the free Yahoo leagues and those things fly right by. I don't remember how I liked drafting with the quick clock though I don't think it was too difficult to manage around it.Sunday's my birthday, I'll do what I want to :P

very smooth draft, under 3 hours, well before kickoff. Was interesting to see where guys like Portis, Steve Smith & TJ Whosyourmomma went with owners knowing (or thinking) they'd miss at least 1 week -- all three still went reasonably close to their ADP - Smith dropped half a round, Portis went late 1st, TJ in the 5th.

Too bad I got my ### handed to me this week.

It's best if you have a draft right before kickoff.

If you can't have a draft though, then drink your beer from a bottle instead of a can.
