did any of you guy who got the flu shot have any side effects from it? i have to do some flying and head across country and was thinking about getting a shot but can't afford to get half sick from the shot.

I got it. No side effect. The shot is inactivated and won't cause any symptoms. The nasal spray may cause slight symptoms, but most likely not.

Get the shot. You'll be fine.

No side affects for me but some people may get a very slight fever for a day.

The shot will only protect you against some strains of flu. The latest supposedly covers the swine flu.

I got it in August...and get it every year. Other than the soreness of the arm, I've never had side effects from one. If anything, it seems to help me avoid getting the flu when the people around me, who refuse to get it, get sick and miss a ton of work.

Got it for several years now and haven't gotten the flu. Used to get the flu once a year prior to that - big fan.

My wife had Guillain Barre as a kid and is not able to get it. Thankfully, she's pretty healthy and avoids getting it.

That's too early.

You are getting a mixture of the prior 3 years in those. Ask to see the little box it comes in and check out what's in it.

The current year's doesn't come out til October or November usually.

Better to get the minor side effects of the flu shot then actually getting the flu.

You're absolutely right.

It may have been later. All I know is that I had the latest batch of flu.

welcome, not long ago it was the two prior years and the third was the most common virus in the last 65 years. Sadly it took a cdc study to realize that if a flu was so common over the last 65 years "everyone" pretty much had it at some point, so they switched to prior three years. Little time later they discovered we generally have 3 flus floating around the US with (guess of numbers-->) 85% one, 8 and 7 % the prior two years. So despite what people say, it is possible to get the flu twice in a season if you didn't have it the year before.

Been getting the flu shot for 15 years, sniffles and aches on day one and two and clear sailing after that. It does seem to wear off as the spring approaches and I always seem to get the flu in March, but usually not before.

Last year was the first time i got the flu after i got a flu shot. I felt like i was dying for one day but the duration was much shorter. Pretty much felt much better i two days.

Edit: i mean i got the flu the same season i got the shot

I've gotten a flu shot every year (except two) for the last couple of decades or so. The only side effect I've ever experienced is soreness at the site of the shot.

Never had any side effects. As long as you arent allergic to eggs or the other reasons some people cant receive it, I think its an easy decision to get it. Since I work in healthcare, any place Ive worked at requires you to get it, or you have to sign a waiver. Ive never understood those people who refuse to get it, for free nonetheless.
