Anyone have a Peavy Prognosis (1 Viewer)

I lead my 13 team 5x5 league in pitching - and have been harboring Peavy on my DL and suffered through his last couple lousy starts.

I have been offered Jay Bruce for Peavy.

My pitching staff is currently:

B Wagner

C Kershaw

D Cabrera

D Rasner

E Volquez

J Papelbon

J Duchscherer

K Wood

P Martinez

J Peavy (I)

I would be dropping Mike Cameron or Justin Upton to slot in Bruce. Is his apparent power for real? Will he hit .285 or better? He has two steals already - expect what, 15?

I wouldn't make that trade if I were you - last I heard Pevy threw 20 somehting pitches off a mound the other day and reported no problems.

Without Peavy you're pitching staff is either too young (Kershaw, Cabrera, Rasner, Volquez, Dusch) or too old (Pedro)

Bruce will not keep this up.

The news is a bit better or at least more predictable for Peavy. After making it through a 30-pitch bullpen session, Peavy will throw another simulated game on Friday that will involve more effort and all of his pitches. Assuming that his stamina is solid and he recovers normally, Peavy would slot back into the rotation early next week. That would put him just past the fifteen-day minimum, even with the retro move that was made.

From Will Carroll, Baseball Prospectus on 6/6.

Personally, in a 5x5 I would not trade a top of the rotation starter like Peavy for anyone. But if you are in a keeper league with a salary structure, there may be other considerations.

peavy should be back next week. you look like you'll need him. you've got the kind of pitching staff that could blow up in your face rather quickly.
