Anyone have Fios? Home network problem (1 Viewer)

I just had Fios installed with the phone option. My house is wired Cat 6 and I'm trying to get he phone from the ONT in the basement to one of the jacks upstairs. For internet I go through a switch but I can't get dial tone through the switch with the phone. The installer thought this would work but Verizon support has no idea what I'm talking about. 

Any thoughts?

Yes you can't get traditional dial tone through a network switch. You will need a VOIP system to handle that, typical non VOIP handsets require analog signals over a tip and ring connection usually cat 3.

No but if your handset isn't VOIP capable it won't work off of a network switch. Also, if you have VOIP handset it will need to be plugged into power or the switch has to be POE capable.
