Anyone here good at LinkedIn? (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks. I'm trying to get better at LinkedIn.

It's becoming a place where content is posted not that much different than facebook and I want us to be in that mix. The audience is VERY much our audience.

Does anyone have an article or anything you can point me towards that is a good "how to get the most out of linkedin for a brand"?

I need the simple "how to get the most out of this" type stuff.

Thank you.

Like any other SM account for business, it takes a lot of work to gain traction.

I'm interesting in knowing why you think Linkedin is "your audience", is it only on demographics—age, income level? I say that because LI is mostly B2B connections and not much in the way of entertainment (I.e. daily Fantasy Football info). People are in a different mindset when on linkedin, they are in a business first mindset and I fear that seeing FF content would be a distraction.

I did a search on the #FantasyFootball hashtag and it only has 120 followers, not much to build a platform on. #profootball has none, #footballs has 20K+, but I would bet 75% are really soccer and #NFL has 6K+ and I'd assume most of those are about the business of the NFL and pro sports.

Contrast that with instagram where #fantasyFootball has over 1 million posts.

Now if you have other content thats not daily stats and updates, then you would have a shot, but it's still a tough nut to crack.

You, Joe Bryant, as an individual can get popular on LI quicker then I think FBG can

To me linkedin becoming more facebook like is sort of missing the point of the website. I guess you could connect with a bunch of other sports writers and such, but I am not really sure if it is the right venue to draw in new customers. It does not really seem designed to expand your message to people you do not know but who would be interested, it would mainly go to people you already know and then they already know FBG exists. I have had friends from high school who do not work in a related field of mine try and connect with me and I also feel like that is missing the point of the website.

It also depends on what your goals are.  Are you using to get a job?  Are you using for a marketing platform?

I was trying to update the section that says if you are looking for jobs and how you can adjust it just to be viewable for recruiters, everyone, etc…

But it seems like you can only make changes to this section on the LinkedIn app. Anyone see the same thing? Why don’t they allow updating this section on desktop?

When you log in, click on your profile on the upper left, then look for "Open to" in blue, should be right below the number of your connections. You can adjust what you're looking for there.

Sort of?  Its missing it entirely.

LI has become a wasteland of Recruit-O-Bots that would make a faux Nigerian prince blush, targeted ads, and the same garbage you'd expect to see on personal FB pages.

Anyone pay for the premium LinkedIn? Is it worth it?

I’m assuming you can see who is looking at your profile in private view, right?

My law firm hired a consultant for this...the most basic thing he said was post content, all the time. Link to everyone you can initially. Once you post content, people that are linked to the people you link to see it, and the constant posting keeps you bumped to the top of all those feeds, so you're more likely to get added if you're posting something of interest. Couple people I know--one in mortgages and one in banking--use the same basic strategy and they develop a fair volume of leads.

I feel like LinkedIn is geared towards marketing yourself to create future job opportunities for yourself and for business to business opportunities. I don’t really see it as a place to market to consumers.
