As a baseball ump, how many times do you get asked about MLB doing away with the home plate collisions? It's pretty cut and dry in Federation. I'm assuming they'll probably adopt the same rule in MLB as NFHS.

Not a lot yet. but I am sure it will be asked multiple times this Spring. I would guess it would be a similar rule, but I don't think it should be eliminated in MLB.

I agree. The catcher will be allowed to block the plate provided he has the ball or is the position of receiving it. The runner would then have to give himself up or try to slide.

I don't think this is the case. If the catcher blocks you can still take hiim out. They are trying to cut down the Posey type collisions where the catcher gives a lane and the runner just tries to knock the ball loose.
In my mid to late 20s I was collegiate volleyball official for Division II and III. It payed pretty well, but in the end it was not worth the time and PTO burned . If retirement doesn't suit me very well I can see getting back into it.

Not at the NFHS level. If a runner collides with a catcher, who has the ball in his possession with malicious intent, the runner is out and is ejected from the contest. The runner has the option of sliding, giving himself up, or creating a run down (if the catcher is in possession of the ball or is about to receive it)

I thought this was always the case in NFHS. Anyhow, MLB isn't prohibiting collisions, just the unnecessary ones. I have no problem with the NFHS rule. I don't think that should be part of the HS game.
FTR---Umped for about 12 years, never HS but thru Colt League, and this is how we always called it. Doesn't make sense that you can blow up the catcher but not another position player IMO.
