Anyone know how NFL.com works their gamecenter? (1 Viewer)

Just wondering ... the OAK/STL game has been a constant jumbled mess - every other play being wiped out/altered/reposted/changed back the original, etc.

Just annoying more than anything and it made me wonder what the actual process is for entering the play info.

It has to be. Sometimes the play by play on there looks like it was written by a 12 year old.

Probably same as MLB.com where they hire stringers to do the game and enter the action on their proprietary software.

I'm pretty sure it all flows through FBG's somehow.

I keep searching for a slip up where the person entering the data makes a reference to HONDA or POINTS TO SHIRT!

I have no clue how CBS, not NFL it's contracted out, does Gamecenter.most stats are done via telnet to a database. (Telnet is ancient but it's workable here )Database info on web just refreshes. Some companies have 1-3 guys at the game and a dozen at home for each game. From there it's usually the common entry that's posted. Like if 7 guys enter run for 5 yards and 5 enter run for 6 yards, 5 shows. The night of and day after the games plays/stats are reviewed and rescored by more experienced folks.NFL didn't renew their contract with CBS. Next year it will be different but likely not so different. Most expect Elias to just take over and the pages Elias does for NFLMedia are somewhat similar. IMO a cross between gamecenter and the foxsports layout with leaders and all.

If a RB fumbles the ball backwards, does he lose his yardage for the amount of yards the ball went backward? i.e. RB has 100 yards rushing. QB pitches the ball back to the RB 5 yards back, then fumbles it additional 5 yards back and at that point it is recovered by the Def. Does he lose 5 yards or 10? Thoughts?
