Haven't found them in print. Heard discussed on radio.

Something sort of like:

-DH even in NL parks

-You can have one guy you pick that can be brought back out after being hit for (catcher presumably)

-Pitchers throwing Sunday are automatically excused and will be substituted.

-Rosters expanded....again.

I believe the catcher allowed back in was already a rule so maybe it would include another position player.

Tom Verducci's comment on the roster bloat

Please stop. The All-Star Game is in danger of imploding, collapsing upon itself from its own burgeoning, unnecessary weight. Here's one way to gain some context on how much the rosters have been watered down. There were 249 players who qualified for the batting title or ERA title or saved at least 30 games last season -- that's essentially your pool of regular players. And there were 71 All-Stars. That number represents about 30 percent of regular players. Push it up around 80 players, which is where we are headed this year, and you'll have about one out of every three regular players calling themselves an All-Star
.

 They should change it to the "All-above average" game.Or better yet, knock the rosters down to about 20 per league.

The rosters should be 25 players.

5 SP

5 RL

2 C

2 1b

3 2b/ss

2 3b

5 of

1 dh

Each starting pitcher should go 2 innings with the relievers there in case of need in the first 8 innings. The top closer in each league pitches the 9th. Extra innings are handled by the remainder of the 4 relievers with the last starter to go 2-3 innings if needed at the end. Any game finished before the 14th inning would cause no problems.

The position starters who are the best players at their position play the whole game and most starters go at least 6 innings. The starting catcher can leave and reenter. The 5 backups are plenty with no need for pitch hitters all game.

If they did this or something similar, I think more people would tune in to the game due to the stars only game it would be.

I hate Selig. He does all these things to protect profits and not the game.

I was kicking around some similar ideas in my head. This is definitely along the lines of what they need to do.And stop with the "1 player per team" rule.

Yeah, that needs to go. The game is much more national than local now that most fans don't care if their team has a rep.

That's nothing. In the Shark Pool, 1 out of every 2 players is a lock for the Hall of Fame.

This goes against my inner :nerd: , but I actually like the "1 player per team" rule. The All-Star game is a celebration of Major League Baseball, and I think it's a nice touch to have all 30 teams represented.

Huh? This game is still HUGELY local. I can tell you, when the Yankees blew, I sat through many innings waiting to see a Roberto Kelly hit or a Scott Sanderson pitch.and for the rest of the thread, I actually kind of like these rules. If anything, the "this time it counts" thing should go, but isn't the typical complaint at all star time that "we should expand the rosters"?

I guess it isn't going to bother anyone having a first baseman batting right around the mendoza line.

This game is rapidly becoming yanks/sox vs Phillies. And maybe the masses throw Braun in for good measure.

The fact that Taylor Freaking Teabaggen is 4th in Catchers right now tells you this thing is freaking rigged.
