i think I may be screwed but let me know if there is a work around here

my 7 year old has an old iPhone 4 that he just uses wifi for games and youtube.  we had the Ask To Buy feature turned on so if he wants an app he requests it from the store then it goes to my wifes phone for approval.  well wife switched to Android so we no longer have another apple device other than his

is there any work around here to be able to approve him in iTunes or icloud or something, or because it's Apple there's only 1 stupid proprietary way to do something?

I approve in itunes - it is on my iMac, not sure that matters - but I get a notification on my Mac, same as on the phone, and I just log in to itunes and approve.

Seems like you should be able to do something similar on itunes on a windows machine, if that is what you have.

can't you just approve on his phone or something? how many apps is he buying anyway?

I don't know them - maybe he just has to wait until you or Mrs Lambskin are around to approve on his iphone

No.  Not many but he likes to get new games occasionally

No it sends a request to her account but as far as I can tell it only comes through on an apple device

What do you mean -  No?  I was under the impression the app can be authorized on his device if you or your wife log in to approve.

Hmmm...is there a way to log in as another user on an iPhone and then log back in as my son?  If so that could work

Set his account to not allow. When he wants an app it requests an iTunes password. Parent enters it.

Yeah I may need to go that route.  Not even sure ill be able to turn off all the previous parent request settings though
