Are the Colts playing their best players? (1 Viewer)

What I got from the story is Caldwell doesn't call the final shots, not necessarily that they are not playing their best players.

It's amazing that so few people see this. It will be crystal clear on Monday night. You really think Collins isn't starting because of "continued concussion symptoms?" C'mon. The Colts don't want to come right out and say "We made a mistake. Collins is old, he stinks and he can't play anymore." Vick was practicing a few days after being SWUNG with great impact right into his lineman, helmet to helmet. I went back through every play on Sunday night when Collins was in the game. I didn't see him take a shot to the head or land on his head even once.

My opinion: The Indianapolis Colts know if Kerry Collins has a concussion. They knew earlier today when Jim Caldwell talked to the media.

That they are unwilling to disclose it is their prerogative.

But such an approach leaves the appearance that, because of the procedures now in place to clear a player to return from a concussion, they are being super careful about what they say so they can get him back more easily, sooner.

Say Collins has a concussion and you can’t get it back in the bottle. He’d have to be cleared by an independent doctor to return. Say you’re still evaluating it and you leave open avenues for a more hasty return.

“He’s still being evaluated, but he had those kinds of symptoms,” Caldwell said. “The doctor’s did what they’re supposed to do in that regard, which is to remove him from the ball game and continue to evaluate him. He’s still in that process right now.”

Caldwell said the team isn’t sure when the concussion occurred, the sort of thing he sometimes says for which I cannot fathom the rationale. Sometimes it's as if he wants to appear to be outside the loop.

“I saw a couple of situations where it could have happened, but I’m not exactly sure,” Caldwell said. “I haven’t spoken to him exactly in terms of which one it was, because, obviously, he didn’t come out of the game right when it occurred. It was something that got progressively worse.”

(Typical question for the Colts/Caldwell in such a situation: Why not? Why wouldn’t the head coach talk with his quarterback to find out when the quarterback believes he suffered the concussion? If he considers it unimportant, I’d like to know that.)

In reading what Caldwell said the day after a tough loss to the Steelers, his words seem typically measured. They seem determined to walk a line, a line I think maximizes ultimate options.

I’m not suggesting they’d put Collins back in action sooner than was safe or permissible. Just that if he recovers quickly they'll be able to get him back to work without relying on anyone not connected to the franchise.

:goodposting: Sunday not they said he had concussion like symptoms, and I have not heard this week that he has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Are we really asking if the Colts aren't playing their BEST players because of Kerry Collins and Justin Tryon?

Really?????

You are probably very right with that sstatement, but if there were an organization truly tanking this would be the way for it to happen...ie. come from the personnel department in the way that it assembles or maybe even disassembles the roster. Players and to a large extent coaches are putting together resumes on tape every week, so there is zero motivation for a Curtis Painter to not play his best since his greatest chance to get a real chance to play in the NFL and get that life changing monetary is not with the Colts.

Chew on these questions. Did any Colts players or coaches want Kerry Collins brought in? Were the coaches told Collins was the starter? Is upper management making coaching decisions? Tryon likes Caldwell and is defending him on Twitter, why?

I have added this post to my "Most Valuable Contribution 2011" short list. Prizes will be awarded to the winner, thanks for playing.
:lmao: Here's a tip. Kerry Collins and Justin Tryon are below average NFL football players. To start a thread suggesting the Colts are purposely not putting their BEST players on the field and using them as an example is NOT a very well thought out position.

But hey, go ahead and help the Shark Pool by getting to the bottom of this and continuing with this very helpful thread.

What did people expect? Manning is one of the greatest qb's of all time, you take him out of the equation, the whole team crumbles. More 3 and outs, which puts more pressure on D.

Look at the roster, it is not a very talented team.
