The main reason for polarization is the division of media. Liberals and conservatives get their news, and thus their facts, from different sources. How can we get along as a society when we are operating from different sets of facts which are opposed to each other? 

Facts are facts. Source dosent matter until it gets to opinion of what the facts mean. 

And the US media machine is very light on facts and rely heavily rely on opinion because THAT is what keeps eyeballs on ther 24 hour channels.
