As a Calvin Johnson owner in 2 leagues.... (1 Viewer)

I have a gut feeling that he is going to go on a nice little run. I was moderately happy when Stafford went down, then I remembered that Shaun Hill was injured. At that point I thought Calvin's fantasy production was going to take a nose dive. But now that Hill is taking on the starting role this weekend (and quite possibly) the rest of the season, I couldn't be more happy. I watched most of the games that Hill was QB and he basically forces the ball to Calvin. The guy could be triple covered and he will just throw it up. Is that something you always want to see from a coaching standpoint, probably not, but Hill knows who the biggest playmaker on that team is. When Stafford was at the helm it seemed like he was reluctant to just get it to Calvin unless he was open. I'm just loving that Hill gets it to him no matter the situation, when he is in trouble, he just throws it Calvin's way. Again, this is completely coming from my gut, the stats may show otherwise, but the games I watched make me quite optimistic.

Actually, I think the TE's get a bigger bump. Hill threw to them a lot before he was injured. Overall, I think both QB's figured out where their bread is buttered though and that is the 6'5" 230 lbs monster on the field. How can you not look at that 3 td performance with Stafford and not think that he wasn't locked into Calvin. Last week was the worse game for Calvin for the rest of the year. He has a very nice schedule coming up and I will be hopefully riding him to the Super Bowl.

As a Calvin and Pettigrew owner, I hope Hill forces the ball a lot to both of them. With Z Miller on a bye and injured, I am a new fan of the mighty Detroit Lions passing attack.

I think Calvin was just getting open. Basically, Stafford, seems to be a smart QB who has all the tools to succeed, therefore he doesn't like forcing throws to Calvin because of the possibility of turning the ball over. He sees that he is covered and then checks down to other receivers. That one game I feel is the exception rather than the rule. During that Jets game, I can almost guarantee that Hill forces more throws Calvin's way, no matter who is covering him. Most games Calvin is double-covered, for some reason the Skins thought they could get by with singling him in most cases, i'm guessing they wanted to bring the heat on Stafford, leaving their CBs to cover one-on-one. Again, the games I watched where Hill was in throwing, he has looked Calvin's way a ton, and no matter if he was open or not, he would just toss it up. I could most certainly be wrong on this, but I saw something that makes me like the Hill-to-Calvin connection.

Take that double coverage Calvin and leave my man Nate to get to lots of love this weekend. Calvin is to Nate what Moss was to Harvin. Let's hope Hill is healthy enough to make them both relevant on Sunday.
