Seems to be a lot of bases noobs floating about. Since I was asked by Joe to not share my blog on his board I have decided to start this thread. It's a little something we do over there. Figured it would be nice to bring it over here. Give a little something back. Questions will be fielded by myself and some of our writers.

Thanks,

Finless

I got the 3rd pick ina H2H pts league. I was all set on picking Hanley there cuz the guy at 2 said all along hes picking Miggy. My plan was to then draft a SP and 1B in some order with my 2nd and 3rd pick figuring a good 1B like Fielder, Howard, or Dunn will still be there. But the guy said now hes leaning Hanley at 2. So do I pick Miggy or go for the whole position scarcity thing and take Tulo at #3? Or do I go for Cano at #3?

The pts system is pretty standard with BBs earning 1pt and no deduction for Ks.
Nate McLouth - dead cat bounce candidate?
Not a terrible candidate. He's looking like a 20+/20 guy this year batting .272.

Is there a good online resource to explain the difference between the "hit and run" and the "run and hit"?

Although it may be an antiquated term, a GB doesn't believe that the "run and hit" exists. He won't accept wiki.
Miggy with the 3rd sounds good to me. He crushes 4 categories. Tulo hit 25 bombs in the last 2 weeks of the season last year. Reminds me of BJ Upton hitting 12 in the ALCS a few years back. People were drafting him in the second round. We all remember how that worked out. So miggy in the first, best 5 cat OF or second baseman with your second. Kinsler is looking real good with an ADP around 50. Then wait until no earlier than the 5th to grab an ace, preferably not until the 6th or 7th. Try to have the infield with exception of catcher wrapped up by the 6th round without reaching on for a SS.
Thoughts on Garrett Jones?
Doesn't look like he's going to get the at bats to be effective unless he plays his way back into every day status. 2009 was a blast but clearly an aberration. I think he debuted in the bigs at 28 without much of a pedigree. Was definitely a fun ride while it lasted.
What really happened during Cake draft? Think you can avoid another collapse this year?
Was battling demons in Santa Fe...opiate demons. Worst shape I've ever been in. I didn't eat drink or sleep during the last quarter of the draft. I had one strawberry in a 5 day period. No joke. I Pretty much checked out after the 10th round. Going to be interesting trying to compete with what I ended up drafting. Not bad considering I didn't even have a list after the 8th or 9th round. We all know what happened last year. Injury bug derailed my campaign. Wouldn't have been the first time I showed up in an established league and hoisted a trophy in my frst year.

Why didn't you ever post the pics of your roommate's hooters?
Very good posting. I'm still bull#### about that.
I've got'em right here. I didn't post because I started getting a lot of PMs from people with 1 or 2 posts asking for the pics. Like 3 or 4 posters I've ever heard of with udder 5 posts started blowing up my inbox.

When a batter checks his swing, do umpires just alternate calling it swing/no swing? There seems to be no method to the madness.

Which 4 players would you take and why?

Mitch Moreland

Mike Morse

Edwin Encarnacion

Kila Ka'aihue

Alex Gordon

Ian Stewart

Luke Scott

Which 4 players would you take and why?

Mitch Moreland- will sit vs lefties

Mike Morse- Might get you 20 HRs but will hurt you in all other categories

Edwin Encarnacion- I feel like one of these years he's gonna break out.

Kila Ka'aihue- Everyone's sleeper

Alex Gordon- I dunno

Ian Stewart- If healthy will provide great power #s

Luke Scott- Will get full time role in a good lineup
Im not Fin but I like the bolded.

Thanks, interesting. Anyone else want to weigh in?

It's virtually impossible.

Did you know that Luke is 55/70 with 22 HRs w/RISP in the 7 inning since he entered the league in 05? I'm not drinking this Kool Aid
MorelandKila

Gordon

Encarnacion
I ended up with Morse, Kila, and Scott. Got outbid on Moreland and Gordon. Passed on E5 and Stew. Might re-visit Stew on the WW later in the year if he's looking healthy.

Thinking for moving Nelson Cruz......what can I get for him?
Don't do it man! As much as we think a muscle will pop, his ceiling is too damn tempting to trade away. But if you do trade him, I hope you break someone's bank. What position are you looking to fill on your team?

I really could use some starting pitching, and of course I'd have to ask for a OF back tooI'll hold for now, but I'll float that he's available(for the right price)

Who's the better pickup in an AL only h2h keeper league? Justin Masterson, Matt Harrison, or Zach Britton?
I like what I've seen of Harrison so far. He's shut down two above average offenses and really seemed to locate his pitches well in the game I watched vs Red Sox. In that game he was hitting 95 - 97 on the gun. I haven't watched Briton yet, but he's got the AL East to deal with and I'd disregard Masterson's outing vs Seattle.

Cool thanks for the feedback LD. Agree with ya on Zach and the AL east, but he has some filthy stuff. Good point about Masterson too and I didn't know Harrison was a fireballer, Always good for K numbers. Tribe is looking better than advertised for now, going to make Matt my first choice.

Oddly enough, the K rate really doesn't translate as he's usually around 5-6 per 9, but he's still the one I like out of those 3.

Would you trade Jeter and one of Garza/Cahill for Asdrubal Cabrera and Hiroki Kuroda?

And should I use my #6 waiver spot to pick up James Shields (dropping Daisuke) or wait till he clears waivers. Also, who should I drop for Drew Storen (who was also dropped)?

12 team h2h yahoo league

C: Geovany Soto

1B: Miguel Cabrera

2B: Brandon Phillips

SS: Derek Jeter

3B: Pedro Alvarez

UTL: Mark Teixeira, Justin Morneau

OF: Matt Holliday, Curtis Granderson, Bobby Abreu

SP: Edwin Jackson, Chad Billingsley

RP: Mariano Rivera, Joel Hanrahan

I'd wait until Shields clears waivers. I don't see your team being in a much better place if you get the guy. Why grab Storen? Is it a keeper league?
