Assani's Poker Thread (1 Viewer)

I hate NHL_99's play where he flopped a gutshot and flush draw and was first to act. He checked and then called the all-in. He needed to push there and AJ would have went away. No way did he want to play that hand (with a 6 high). He should have been content to win it uncontested.

No, I had nothing. Twice I had bet out when that guy had limped and I was in SB(once I had a legit hand and once I didn't) and both times I won the pot. So I tried to do it again. When the second Q came on the turn, I figured that unless he had a Q, he'd fold to a bigger bet. I bet, he raised. I only took so much time to make him think I had a real hand and so that the blinds would go up right after they passed by me.
 
gg Assani. I would have done exactly the same thing there (played back with AT suited with the SB raising on a possible steal attempt). Congrats on another tournament final table.

 
Eh, a bit disappointed in finishing in only 6th, but I'm happy with my play. He had tried to steal a few times before from the SB, and I felt like pushing was the right move.

I rarely play poker (none online), but this thread is fascinating. I'm an extreme novice, but I'm assuming there are others in my boat reading this thread. I have two questions:

1) How the hell do you play 6 tables at once?

2) If a players doesn't show his cards, why do they show up in the hand history?

1. Poker becomes very mechanical after a while. I've played 10 tables at once over a long period of time, and there are some out there that can play 20+ at once. Basically, after you've played thousands and thousand of hands, you've seen every situation imagineable and it doesn't take more than a few seconds to make a decison on any given situation.2. If a hand goes to showdown then a player's hand is shown(its not shown to the table, but it can be seen in hand history)...he has no choice in this matter.

I'll get a real bankroll here soon though, because I'm signing up for Party through Collin, and his deal is pretty sweet (basically, I get to try bonus whoring for free).

Registered for the two $320s about to begin around 1:00 at Party and Stars. Will probably play in a few others as well. We might get a lot of snow here in NY tonight, so theres a decent chance that I'll just stay in and play cards, but we'll see. Gonna just relax and 2 table these tourneys for a while, as I'm a little hungover and don't feel like concentrating too much. Might add some ring games later on.

Stars is giving us 2500 starting chips, which is always nice.

Idiots like this annoy me. Min raise and then all in on the flop, lol.

I am absolutely shocked so far at the play at my Party table...honestly this might be the worst table I've sat at in months. How are these people playing in a $320 tournament? I'm at about 500 chips now, so I have my work cut out for me, but if I can get a hand I should be able to get paid off here.

And I'm out of the Party one. Disappointing only because of how soft the game was. But I'm going to learn from this- size up the table before trying to make bluffs. It just seems like I get in these situations like that 55 hand where I know that a bluff is the right play and I think I have a very good read on my opponent's cards...but I guess if I'm playing with guys that can't make laydowns, then I can't play like that.

Played several $20 SNGs. Finished 4th twice and 5th once. Sucked out on all three times. $60 goes quick like that. And just trying to clear out the cash in my Paypal account.

That makes sense. I think I've played with him before(although it could've just been another guy with a Phil Ivey avatar) and hes a solid player IIRC. Glad he folded because I wasn't likely to be willing to fire again.

The big tournament on Pokerroom is starting in about 30 minutes, if you're interested in playing. $1,000 buyin, two day event, very nice structure.. 600 to 700 people.

:shock: That sounds like an awesome event. Unfortunately I can't play in it because I'm busy tomorrow night. Whats the point of stopping after only 6.5 hours?

ETA: No rake either??? Wow. Why are they doing that?

It is a very awesome event, they've been having them every few months or so... The no rake is nice too, I guess it's all just for promo.. Not sure why they break it up into two days, I guess so people won't have to play marathons like the giant Stars tourneys that take forever.. I sort of like the day break. I don't think I've seen anywhere else with such a great structure though.. 10,000 starting chips, 30 minute blinds, starting at 25-25.. no antes..

Too bad ya can't make it! 5 minutes until it kicks off.. Wish me luck! :)

Good luck man. Let me know how you end up doing. Yeah, I have a basketball game at 7:00 on Sunday night, so with it starting back up at 3:00 theres probably no way I could do it.
