You really want to know what I am thinking about all of this?Your a week or so into your SNE goal. Your playing ~4K hands a day. Your keeping up, but your not ahead of the game. You think if you stay headstrong there is a good chance you will earn SNE status by the end of the year if you can keep this pace up for the first 3/4 of the year or so.Thats great and all, but what I REALLY want to know is...HOW THE HELL DID jorj95 EARN SNE STATUS IN MARCH LAST YEAR? And he did it with two weeks off!

High stakes SnGs.consider that for one $5000 SnG you earn 500 VPPs.People can play 20+ SnGs at a time(although the $5000s don't run often enough to play just them, but you get my point)They take about an hour to play one(unless you get knocked out early in which case its much quicker)

I mean, back a few years ago I would go out to the bars at least 3-4 times per week, often stay til closing time(4AM), nearly always get fairly drunk, often times be absolutely hammered....and yet I could always function perfectly the next day. Hell many days I'd wake up and go right to the gym. And I could always drink again the next night. But now I'm completely out of commission for an entire day if I get hammered. It really sucks.

When you play a very basic TAG style, 99% of hands are going to be standard and aren't going to have any ultra tough spots. I mean, sure there were a few hands where I could've played things differently, but nothing that I really think would generate great conversation. Hell, 1/2 the hands I post get no replies to anyway.

Assani, can you take a few sentences to describe basic TAG style?

tight preflop...only playing less than 20% of hands. Clearly opening up your range in late position and tightening it in early position. Especially tightening it from the blinds when facing raises. Nearly always raising preflop when you enter a pot unless its already been raised. C-betting 90+% of flops when its heads up. However when faced with aggression from opponents being very tight about willing to commit a ton of chips.

Ah man...you got me excited, but when I checked 2p2 I found:

"No it's the same as it was before, you just know when you have half now.

Say you are Silver star, earning 1.5 FPPs/VPP. If you are at 94,415 FPPs and earn a VPP then you go to 94,416.5. Earning another would take you to 94,418. Before it would say 94,416 after that first VPP and jump to 94,418 after the second. Now it just tells you have 94,416.5, so it actually displays that you go up 1.5 FPPs for every VPP, which it didn't before even though it worked out that way. "

c betting is continuation betting...it just means betting on the flop if you were the preflop raiser.

The last sentence i'm basically saying that while I'll raise a lot preflop(when I do play hands) and c-bet often that I'm ultimately a tight player when it comes down to being willing to play for huge pots.

I mean, back a few years ago I would go out to the bars at least 3-4 times per week, often stay til closing time(4AM), nearly always get fairly drunk, often times be absolutely hammered....and yet I could always function perfectly the next day. Hell many days I'd wake up and go right to the gym. And I could always drink again the next night. But now I'm completely out of commission for an entire day if I get hammered. It really sucks.

And around age 40-45, it will start taking two days to recover. By that time, 4am won't even exist for you anyway.

Yea, it takes longer to recover. When I was in my mid-20's I would go out 3 - 5 times a week, and would still work out 6 days a week. Heck, when I was 27 I did Body for Life and got my weight down to 163, which was about 10 lbs less than I weighed when I was 22 and in great shape, despite still partying 3-5x/week. I've found the key to counteracting this prolonged recovery time is to be smarter about keeping yourself hydrated when drinking. I talked to a nurse a few years back who advised drinking a glass of water for every 2 drinks you have. It's amazing how much this minimizes your hangover. I know it's often damn near impossible to stick with this routine at a bar, so I just try and mix a few glasses/bottles of water in during the night, and before I go to bed I'll chug a 32 oz. gatorade, and then keep another huge glass of water by my bed to drink throughout the night whenever I wake up. This will help your recovery time immensely.

This guy knows things. Sometimes difficult to do at a bar, but even a few waters help. Easy to do at home, a casino, etc. Helps a ton.

Glad to see that is being talked about more. Although, other than making it easier to deposit/withdraw and having to pay taxes, will it really have much effect? I think a lot of the casual losing players have come and gone and wouldn't come back. Maybe a little more competition would mean better bonuses though, which would be nice.

When does double FPP week start?

its always different, and its not guaranteed to happen but every year it has for the past few years. It'll most probably be during a time when PokerStars has the least amount of action, as thats when they'll need to encourage players to play more...so probably during the WSOP I'm thinking.

I agree with these guys on the water. Makes it way better. Also, now that I'm married and have a bunch of responsibilities, I find that I can force myself to function with a hangover a lot of times when I would have just laid in bed all day if I was a single dude.

I know jorj95. He's a madman. He and deut23-10 are friends of mine. Those guys are complete nuts. I've known deut since highschool - one of my best friends. jorj95 is his good buddy.Anyway, these guys play 20 tables at a time at very high stakes.

Its tough to add everything up, but to put it simply 1 million VPPs will be worth about $110,000. They'll be worth less though if I don't reach 1 million.Tourneys were way easier and less stressful than this. I do miss them at times. At the same time though, its nice not having to work fixed hours like I did when I played tourneys every day.

Sounds normal, especially if you don't get drunk as often. I'm a few years ahead of you and have noticed a similar strengthening of hangovers.

hey AF - I'd have to find a specific hand I guess, but in general for Omaha hi/lo8 is 3-pair on the flop considered a strong hand or very strong hand (i.e. risk 100BB), I realize it would be more favorable to have a good low or flush draw to go with it. I am just trying to gauge how aggressive I should be and if a full house draw (if you can call it that) is strong enough.

in general, no its not good enough to play when met by aggression. Of course this matters a lot on situation...if it was raised preflop or even 3 bet and you think your opponent may be overplaying AA, then obviously its good enough. But 90% of the time just fold it when you meet aggression. You're almost never going to be in great shape when getting it all in with this hand, and you'll often be in horrible shape.

Yeah, I think he's going to run into a bit of trouble, but he's been SN just on his own for awhile now jumping it up shouldn't change much. He said there's some level where they give you a porsche. His "human bots" as I call them are both already up about 20k put together plus whatever he kicks them in for the points this year so far just playing 1-2 and .5-1.

You say you are "getting frustrated at playing so much yet not making a ton of money yet", but I thought that was what you plan. A slow grind with the idea of making the cash on the FPP bonus?I wish you the best of luck, but you don't seem like the "grind it out type". I'd be surprised if you can stick with this plan. And I'm not being critical, because I couldn't either. Playing that many tables for long periods of time would make me kill myself.
