Anyone that drafted at 7 I would like to see what your team looks like. I would assume most have either Moss,Brady or Barber for the 1st pick. What did you get in future rounds?
I picked up Barber in RD1 with the 7th pick. Then went Wayne in the second round. This is a ten team draft and we had all sorts of trades going on in our league. #2 traded his first round pick to the #1 pick so the 1st team in the league wound up with LT and Westy. I got a lot of value and feel that I'm pretty deep at RB and WR thanks to owners in our league picking up TEs early on and IDP very early. I felt that loading up on RB and WR position was a lot safer and provided more depth than going IDP in the 10th round.
ADP owner didn't bother backing up with C Taylor in the 9th and C Taylor's ADP was around 9.04, so I just felt he had value there. I don't have a problem stashing him as my 6th RB and plugging him in on bye weeks. My big fear is that Denver and St. Louis need to have good seasons - if they struggle I'm afraid my team struggles....
1.07 - M Barber
2.04 - R Wayne
3.07 - R Grant
4.04 - J Cutler (big stretch, but I didn't want to lose out on him - especially since teams fill out their rosters in our league)
12 QBs in the first 74 picks, Favre was the first one who wasn't 15+ before his ADP (and it's 4 pt passing TDs). Went back to back with Schaub (15th QB).
In hindsight, regret not taking Cotchery in the 5th and taking Miller or Daniels 5 rounds later. Also passed on Chambers in the 6th, Driver in the 7th, Moss in the 8th, Burleson in the 9th - would feel more comfortable at WR3 with any one of those, but fell in love with the rookie RBs. If one of them blows up, hoping to find a top 20 WR through a trade.
12 Team Redraft - Serpentine, Standard scoring with a few variations (2x points for TDs over 50yards). I don't have the full breakdown in front of me, so this is a quick list from memory.
SJax was there, I couldn't pass him up.
1. SJax
2. Brees
3. 85
4. Holt
5...
I tried to get the best value from what was available. Can't believe I drafted two Rams....AND Chad Johnson. A few question marks for my team, but hopefully it pans out.
i'm in 3 leagues and have the 7th pick in all three So, i guess 2008 will be an interesting experiment in draft day strategy. Though each of my leagues is very different, 1 PPR, 1 standard, and 1 FFOC.
IN FFOC i dont see how i can avoid taking a QB in rd 1. PPR i am looking to take Gore if he's there. And in my standard league, i am just going after the best available player at that spot (most likely RB or QB). beyond that, its too hard to predict as i definitely employ the "best available player" strategy beyond rd 1.
I really cant see taking Portis at #7. He is solid, but i dont see him having any huge weeks that catapult my team to a W. For a #1 pick, i want him to be an absolute stud. IMO, he needs to be Top 3-5 at his position by years end.
