Atlanta Defense Scoring (1 Viewer)

I commish a league on rtsports. I have it setup where it should score defense only...

Defense will start with 10 points then deduct 3 points for every 7 points scored. Last night the first td for the Saints was from a blocked kick....so the defense was not on the field....rt displays that the Atlanta D allowed 23 points when it actuality it allowed 16....

The difference in the two teams is 2.68....if Atlanta D allowed 16 pts that will give that team +3 pts and a win.

AOL League Manager scored the Atlanta D with 4 points...RT scored Atlanta D with 2 points...so which one?

I see this as a no brainer....I've emailed rt for their input...

Comments...thoughts?

Do you give 6 points for a punt or kickoff return for a TD? If so, that means you count special teams. Including ST the Falcons allowed 23 pts. If you don't count punt/kickoff returns for a TD then I guess the Falcons allowed 16.

That could be the problem right there.

Don't allow any Special Team TD's or yardage or anything...I didn't want special teams to count for any points...

The way RT Sports handles this depends on whether you are using "Combined Def/ST" or "Separate Defense and Special Teams"

Points that always count against a defensive team:

* Fieldgoals of ANY length for ANY reason.

* Touchdowns, and accompanying extra point or 2-point conversion, of ANY length if scored by the opposing offense.

* IF a league uses combined defense and special teams, punt returns, kickoff returns, blocked punts, and blocked fieldgoals for touchdowns, and accompanying extra points or 2-point conversions.

If "Do NOT count points against the Defense if that team is NOT on the field at the time of the score." is checked, the following points do NOT count against a defensive team:

* Interception return for touchdown and and accompanying extra point or 2-point conversion.

* Fumble return for touchdown and and accompanying extra point or 2-point conversion.

* ANY safety for ANY reason.

* IF a league uses separate defense and special teams, punt returns, kickoff returns, blocked punts, and blocked fieldgoals for touchdowns, and accompanying extra points or 2-point conversions.
In other words:If you have separate defense and special teams, and "do not count points when not on the field" turned on, it shouldn't count.

If you have combined defense and special teams, it should always count because the ST is on the field.

In the League Setup, go to Rosters, Setup and mark Defense only (no special teams). That does away with all special teams scoring. Assuming you have also marked the box in Defense scoring rules for "Do NOT count points against the Def/ST if that team is NOT on the field at the time of the score," that hould do it.

That did the trick...I had defense only checked...but not the DO NOT count points against the Def/ST if that team is NOT on the field.....it's all good now...thanks guys...
