Attention Apple Experts: What you buying? (1 Viewer)

Just spilled a glass of water on my laptop. Think she's a goner.

Was a MacBook Air, couple years old. Was a good device for what I used it for.

If you are buying a new Apple laptop what are you getting?

Bought a reconditioned Air (Early 2014, 4G memory, 128G storage) last spring for $750. Love it, and as a previous owner, I don't have to sell you on them. Look at reconditioned machines, you are still eligible for AppleCare.

Depending on how badly damaged it is I might look to get it fixed before buying a new one.

I have an early 2011 MBP and it's great for what I need... but I've had to do some maintenance to it to keep it working right.  When I look at the new ones they're terribly short on storage, RAM upgrades are overpriced and apparently it's all soldered to the board so you can't upgrade it yourself.  Not exactly something I want to pay $1500 for.

That said, BestBuy has Macbooks on sale ending tonight... the pro's seem like a good deal.  http://www.bestbuy.com/site/global-promotions/special-sale/pcmcat185700050011.c?id=pcmcat185700050011

Yup. I know they are fleecing me but I used that thing everyday, visited all kinds of sites, updated it from time to time but didn't really pay attention, traveled all the time with it, and it still ran perfectly and had decent battery life. Probably leaning towards getting another one.

Will let it dry out until the weekend but it shut off immediately and it was a full glass of water so doubt it's coming back.

Will definitely look into a refurb.

Macbooks and Airs have already received their refresh.   If you're interested in a Macbook Pro, wait until the June WWDC for a refresh.
