My auction draft is coming up this Saturday and was hoping to get a topic started where fellow auction players can post the prices they saw players go for so we can get a ballpark average. I was hoping this topic would be similar to the one where people were posting their dynasty drafts that was started a couple months back.

My league in particular is a 12 teamer and our cap is $100. Start 1qb/2rb/2wr/1te/1pk/1dst and I believe we can only have 15 or 16 players on our roster.

I can guarantee you that LJ, SA, and LT will all go for $50 or more. Other than that...it's a crap shoot.

lmao @ paying that for any player. But really, "average" prices don't mean anything, unless you know your owners are lemmings who put a lot of stock in such stuff. What you think THEY will pay is what matters. eg one guy is a "homer" who I can probably jack up the prices on some for players off of his team, while another always goes for certain players (eg P Manning).

Usually, the guys picking up players for free are the ones that drop 50% or more of their cap on one guy. The "nickel-and-diming" is usually from people trying to hoard their money incase that one sleeper they've been eyeing gets thrown out and they want to have enough to make sure they get him. We don't allow it until the later rounds when everyone starts running low on cash. Just gives us an excuse to drag the auction out longer and drink more beer. There is no limit as to how many players you can have at any one position. You can draft all RB's if you want. We do this because that promotes more transactions and we charge $5 per. This inturn puts more in the pot to be won at the end of the year. If you win the league you can end up winning over $1,000 (due to all the transactions people make picking up WW and making trades).

I did it by exporting my league's (past seasons) real auction prices from DD and matching them up position-by-position with this year's projections. Here's what I've found:

QBs: No value at all. Top 10-12 will go for way too much money. Good for me, though.

RBs: Two great tiers -- could begin anywhere from RB2 (big disparity in price last year after LT; I don't expect that this year with LJ and Alexander) to RB4, and lasting to RB14. If the projections work out, I could get three starters in this range for 2/3 of my cap. The second tier is actually RB29-RB36, hopefully for one reliable reserve/potential starter for cheap.

WRs: Only one tier from WR12-WR23. I hope to get my other two skill starters here for just shy of 20% cap.

The way I figure it, I could easily fill out my roster with a $6 QBBC, $6 for 4 skill players, and $1 D/K and finish with a 20% improvement on total value vs. cost. We'll see.

WRs: Only one tier from WR12-WR23. I hope to get my other two skill starters here for just shy of 20% cap.

The way I figure it, I could easily fill out my roster with a $6 QBBC, $6 for 4 skill players, and $1 D/K and finish with a 20% improvement on total value vs. cost. We'll see.

My draft pretty much proves your theory dead on.

Peyton Manning goes for $45 and I get 3 Fantasy studs in Vick, Brooks, and Culpepper for $13.25 (QBBC)

I expected to pay dearly for my 1st RB but still, McGahee for $31 could be considered value in my whacky league. Then I followed that up with Deuce for $4, and Deshaun for $8, and Chester for $11.

WR's are almost always a toss up but I like the value and depth I got with Plax, S. Moss, M. Jones, and Antonio Bryant ($13.50 total for 4 WR's).

I got 2 of the top 4 TE's in Heap and Cooley (Trade bait).

I think that even moreso this year that there is plenty of depth and you can afford to wait around and let everybody else overspend for big name players.

Obviously I blew my load on the RB/WR starters, and could be a bit off on the Chad Johnson amount, but was able to fill in some spots with leftover bargains much much much later on. The backup RBs are mostly guys waiting on an injury that I plucked from teams that didn't draft their starter's backups, but I only need one to come through and figured I'd increase my odds by getting a bunch of them. The WRs were either the leftover #1 guys, or #3's on decent passing teams waiting on an injury.

I think Antonio Bryant is HUGE value this year. I got him for free in my league and you got him for the minimum. That SF offense is gonna have to air it out alot and he and Alex Smith have a groove going. I can see him getting lots of garbage time stats. You did the right thing spending all your money on your starters. I'll be facing a dillema every week trying to figure out who to start since I have good depth at every position.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but right now I have Engram as my flex, ouch! I may put in Byant especially since they play Arizona week 1.What I'm hoping for is that SF starts off decent with the softer secondaries in Ari and StL, then I can package a trade with him.
