See, this is why I like drafting with stickers on a draft board.

Nobody pulling these kinda shenanigans at my home league draft, no sir. What, are they gonna grab a Sharpie and write “(IR)” on the sticker, then throw another sticker on top of it?

Unpossible.

That would be great, I have players in 3 different time zones.

As do I, including 1 in Bahrain. Still use the draft board for the locals

This is an oversight by the commissioner. The owner didn’t do anything wrong. It’s a really small issue. Best to fix it next year. This is what we always did when we found ourselves in uncharted territory for anything we hadn’t thought of…

Let him keep his team as it is and make it a rule next year. I’d also remind the owners of the league that the rules exist to try to maintain the spirt of “fair play”. Actively trying to find loopholes in the rules to give yourself competitive advantage is something that is worthy of not being invited back to play in the league if an owner is found to do it repeatedly. Even though I think you should let things stand for this year—-I also do think that the owner should have contacted you before the draft to ask if he could IR the player and draft 24 more.
