Auction League, What would you do? (1 Viewer)

I am in a 12 team Auction League ($350 Salary Cap). During the Auction the cap is $300, as of the first day of the season the cap goes to $350. It's a keeper league with teams being able to keep 2 players. I had LJ last year at a cost of $115. I could resign him for 1 year at a cost of $122, or for 2 years for $129.

I am pretty sure IF I keep him it'll only be for one more year. I wasn't planning on keeping him at all as I feel that's kind of overpriced.

My dilemma is this: LT, Gore, Henry, Jacobs, Maroney, Benson, Taylor and Brown are all being held over.

Would you keep LJ or gamble that you could get him cheaper?

Do you think $122 is over-priced?

TIA

I don't see SJax in your list of players being kept, so do you think you'd be able to land him for $115-125? I think I'd have to keep LJ

Yes, $122 is overpriced. BUT, with the slim pickings at RB (and the likely too-high prices to pay for what's left), I think you might have to roll the dice....

Yea, this would be the guy I would target, but I know this league and he will go for upwards of $130-$140.The question is, is that a better buy?

I would keep him as there are slim pickings left. I don't find that unreasonable for a $350 salary cap. In our draft last night LT2 went for $110 and that was with a $200 cap.

With an auction I like to know what I have to spend heading into the draft and laying down 1/3 of your cap for Johnson certainally lets you know where you stand.

A lot of it depends on the prices that the other RBs are being kept for. If Gore was picked up cheap a couple years ago and is kept for 70$, a person can afford to overspend on someone like LJ. Gore + LJ = 60-70% of the cap easily - when you have a steal on your team you can afford to overpay for someone else - it will all even out. I would be afraid someone will overpay for LJ and would keep him at the cost for 1 more year and attempt to get a new keeper through the auction or waivers.

What Finger said, especially when you factor in who is being kept. Last year I went into our 12 team $200 cap league with LJ one of my keepers @ $12. While everyone was thinking that I had my RB1 I quietly joined in the bidding for LT2 along with everyone else. He was one of only a couple projected top 12 backs not being kept. As the bidding got into the $90's and people started dropping out they realized I was all in for him. It wound up between myself and one other owner who blinked at the $103 price tag. I got him and the championship right there.$122 is not too bad for LJ, leaving you some $50-60 for your RB2.

LJ will have a better year next year so I would say 2 year deal or nothing. There are MANY servicable backs out there. I definately dont think he is worth 122. Cheifs dont have much promise at qb and may be drafting another one next year.

Dont pigeon hole yourself... Auctions are all about value!
