Good stuff here. Any chance you could post the rest of the players? I don't see much action around the auctions and I am always interested in knowing what things look like. The lower players are the ones that I am interested in.Thanks in advance.

I doubt these prices are likely to help anyone - they are Ridiculously high:

$53 for Manning?

$44/48 for Palmer and Brady?

$105 for Tomlinson?

$47 for Benson?

What is this league - everyone buys two studs and then battles for the $1 and $2 players?

Interesting. Thanks for posting. I am in a 10 teamer drafting next week and this will help. There are always some way overpriced and underpriced players and they can be tough to predict.

I'd love to be the guy who got V. Young for $6 and laugh at the Brees owner paying $55 while I've got $49 extra to spend elsewhere.

With a $200 cap these are not that high of prices compared to the auctions I've been in.

This is good info. My league does an auction with $100 cap. It is interesting to see how other auctions are going. I was surprised at the number of RBs that went for more than $40. Then again it all depends on what the market will pay. Thanks for the information because there is very little information on auctions available.

These really are high prices. Some of your "overbids" are steals compared to what others went for.

I just corrected the starting requirements on my original post. (Playing in several leagues.) The reason the RBs are so high is because we start 1 RB, 1 WR, and 2 Flex. (It's stupid, I know. For the last two years, I've voted to change it back to 2 RBs, 2 WRs and 1 Flex, but lost out by one vote each year.)5-6 teams will start 2 RBs and 2 WRs. 5-6 teams will start 3 RBs and 1 WR. One guy always starts 1 RB and 3 WRs.

Bolding, Branch, Driver at the WR. Roethlisberger, Hasslebeck, Kitna... I know they were not "overbids" but these should have been normal price... thus steals with where everyone else was going. Peterson, James, Green at the RB.

I agree. That's the beauty of an auction. The timing of overpriced and underpriced players seems to shift every year in this league. But this year, players nominated in the first hour were mostly fair value or overpriced. The second hour saw a lot of fair value and underpriced players. The third hour was like the first hour. And finally, the forth hour was all over the place...some great deals and a lot of headscratchers.

Boldin was the first WR nominated. He ended up going for $22. As the 16th best WR, I thought he was worth around $17. Branch probably went in the 3rd hour of the auction (when about 3 guys with a lot of money starting getting antsy.) I thought $20 for him was terribly high. I had him valued at $11-12.Driver went very late. A lot of guys were done bidding on WRs when he finally came up. When he was nominated everyone started talking about the uncertainty surrounding his foot injury. I thought he was a steal for $4.Rothlisberger went early in the auction timewise, but most guys already had a QB by then. I thought he was worth $15, but he went for $8.Hasselbeck went very late. I thought he was worth $12-13, but he went for $8.Kitna was another good deal at QB. My value put him at $20, while he sold for $15. Peterson was getting some serious love from an OU alum at our auction. I thought he overpaid by $4-5.I don't remember much about the bidding on James. I thought he was worth $41, but ultimately sold for $30.Green went about an hour and a half into the auction. (Lotta good deals around this time.) I thought he was a steal at $15 as I had him valued at $29-30.

Actually your description is normal. This is our 4th year in auction format and it goes like this every year. Guys are amped and have money to burn early on - bad combo. Much like a Vegas trip - lots of excitement early and then lots of grumbling trips to the ATM to reload. The best thing you can do in an auction is to nominate big time players you don't expect to be on your team(unless you get extreme value of course, which is doubtful) early and let the feeding frenzy go down. After 20-30 players are gone, jump in and grab a few semi-marquee players for normal value or bargain value while the other chuckleheads are licking their wounds and wondering if they'll make it to the last hour with enough cash to complete their roster. You just don't want to get frozen out of the top 12-14 RB's so if they're going fast you may have to overpay a bit. Backing off again in the third hour is a good idea and the 4th hour is bargain basement time - usually only WR values left in my league though which is why I grab top 10 WR and then load up on midrange guys I can trade later.

This is the 4th year that league has used an auction draft and it really does change every year. It's like everyone remembers when the steals happened from the previous year and then spend all of their money during that phase of the auction. I can't remember how the ebb and flow went throughout the entire auction every year, but I do know that in years 1 and 3 you could get great deals early while everyone was overpriced early on in years 2 and 4.

I disagree with that statement. My auction league is heading into it's 10th year and the salaries for runningbacks are in line with what he posted. Manning was kept at $40 last year and Palmer went for $25, no other QB was over $20. But......... TL2 was bought at $95 last year and is being kept this year. I was the sucker that dropped $91 on Alexander and watch my team go down quicker than one of Vick's underperforming dogs.

Definitely not undervalued. In my keeper auction style league, LT went for $120 and Peyton Manning and Tom Brady went for about $85. The problem with keeper leagues auction style is the if the enough of a position is taken up already, you are pretty much forced to overpay for guys. In my league, the only top 10 QB available were Manning (as a restricted player), Brady, and Hassellback. Hell my ####### paid $40 for Ben Roesthlisberger because it was either Eli Manning or Jake Delhomme as my #1. And Ben isn't even a #1

I was hoping I could get Brian Westbrook for under $50 as my #1 once the QB's were taken. Nope he went for $62. :pirate:

I am in a 10 team auction league. What I find is that our top players go for a little less than the cheatsheets say, but a olt of the low end players cost a couple dollars rather than going for a buck. Often bargains are dictated by when they come up in the draft.
