Austin Collie (1 Viewer)

Out of Mind
Carried off on a stretcher. Huge hit that bent his head/neck sideways. He's still not moving.

yeah he got murked...looked awful, hopefully it doesnt turn out too bad for him, you have to feel for him after his quick return today..

Hard to watch. It didn't look like a malicious hit by DB Coleman at all...just enough of a glancing blow to probably TKO him. Although with how hard Collie's head hit the ground after the hit, I wouldn't be surprised if that was what really amplified any injury he might have incurred. A bad situation all around. I'm sure Coleman didn't mean it! I just hope Collie's gonna be okay.

Ditto. Reminded me of Don Beebe years ago.

He was blinking and conscious. I'm praying it was *just* a concussion.

Wasn't it just a hand injury?

Yea I hope he'll be ok too. Scary hit, I was at least hoping to see him move his hands or something. :(

looked like his head hitting the turf was the worst of it, not the hit. All happened so quick, hard to fault the Eagles DB's...
Disagree. His left arm went stiff immediately after the hit in the head and prior to hitting the ground. His brain sustained damage...but again if it's a concussion, he should be ok after a few weeks. I'm worried now about neck injury at this point.

My take is Collie DID take a head to head shot by the 2nd defender but it wasn't intentional. Collie had his head bent forward and the first defender hit him into the 2nd defender.

I think datonn was referring to the initial contact on the play in question when he says "amplified any injury he might have incurred". Collie's head hitting the ground didn't help.

No, the 2nd guy hit Collie in the shoulder. Neither hit him in the head.

Lot's of disagreement in here. Coleman was HTH, IMO.Regardless, they just mentioned he's sitting up, and it just looks like a basic concussion

Yeah I saw him move his left leg at one point. And Simms did say he saw Collie moving his arms so hopefully it's just a concussion

Excellent. It was HTH, I totally agree.

Bad concussion. He was moving. The head hitting the turf was the brunt of the injury too. Plus the helmet hitting the back of the helmet rung his bell.

Totally clean play and he should not be fined. Incidental contact after the first hit.

Not even close to being intentional or dirty.

It is a rough game.

I've watched lots of tough injury hits, including Theismann's compound fracture leg injury, but this hit was the first one where I didn't want to see any more replays and I actually started looking away when they did them. You could tell the way he went down initially that something was very wrong there. If this ends up being classified as just a "basic concussion" I'll be stunned. Given his reaction on the field I'm surprised that the Colts haven't made him stay immobilized or get him to a hospital, assuming the Philly facility doesn't have a full set of diagnostic equipment for this kind of thing on site.

ETA....not saying this was a dirty hit at all, and I don't own the guy. This was just one of the more difficult hits for me to watch in 30+ years as a fan...

Agree totally with you.

Why exactly will he be out for a while?
Seeing Collie lying stiff and motionless on the ground reminded me of the concussion Jahvid Best got last year at Cal. That one kept Best out for about half the season. I don't think there's any way Collie plays the next few games.

Howlong was Djax out? The hit he took was even worse than the one on Collie.
Everybody is different. We're all not the same. Djax hit did look worse but he was able to walk off the field after he woke up, Collie, on the other hand.. couldn't. I'd be surprised if the NFL let alone the Colts let him play before week 13-14.

It all depends on whether he can pass some neurological and cognitive tests. I think the team physician and an independent neurologist must both pass him. There could be a brain scan. But, the apparent severity of the concussion doesn't play a big role.

Desean wasn't really able to walk off the field on his own power... he had two people holding him up and looked extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely wobbly. Obviously it was more encouraging than Collie being carted off w/ no "thumbs up"... but if the reported diagnosis is correct I doubt he misses anything more than a game.

I was thinking of Darrell Jackson when he got laid out by the Cowboys. He walked off the field too, iirc, but then collapsed into seizures in the locker room after the game.

The D Jax hit had more force and looked more violent but the Collie hit was probably worse due to him getting hit in the back of the head.

"Collie has full movement in his extremities, and was sitting up in the locker room as the Colts came out for the second half. He appeared to lose consciousness momentarily, hinting at a significant concussion. Added coach Jim Caldwell, "It's a concussion, so we'll see how long it takes to clear."

Thrilled to hear that Collie is going to be fine and the hit looked worse than what it really was.

Couldn't care less about when he returns to play football, just glad that this wasn't the life changing hit that it looked to be at the moment... The room full of guys I was watching the game with went completely silent when Collie was lying motionless on the field. Glad to hear he dodged a bullet tonight.

Excellent news.
