Austin Hooper vs Deshaun Watson (1 Viewer)

10 team Dynasty PPR (.5) League

Lineup: 2QB, 3WR, 2RB, 2TE, 2Flex

My Roster:

QB: Roethlisberger, Stafford, Wentz, Garoppolo, Deshaun Watson, Jay Cutler

WR: D. Hopkins, Brandin Cooks, D. Thomas, S. Watkins, M. Bryant, Ted Ginn, T. Austin, M. Wheaton, Kenny Stills

RB: LeSean McCoy, Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook, E. Lacy, A. Peterson, J. Charles, Duke Johnson, Jacquizz Rodgers

TE: Eifert, Ertz

I have no picks over the next two years.

Currently in trades talks about:

Hooper and a 2018 mid 1st

for

Watson and Duke Johnson.

I know I'm trading from two deep positions for a position of need, but I think I'm really high on Watson, and in a 2 QB league a young good QB is worth his weight in gold. If he starts having a good rookie season, I could probably get more. Or I could have a good young QB to replace Ben when he retires. I also know that next year's draft is stacked at QB, so the 2018 1st would help mitigate that. Thoughts?

I would do it, mainly for the pick and the fact that you need TE help since you have to start 2. Hooper may not turn out to be what we hope he will, but the pick should net you a good starting RB/WR/QB.  Unless Watson somehow magically turns into peak Michael Vick or something, you should be fine.

I don't make that trade.  Hooper is just a guy and I would much rather wait to see what Watson is because the upside is good.  You can always pick up a TE of Hooper's quality off waivers.  Keep Watson and Duke and see what happens.

I'd make that deal. I like Hooper quite a bit, and you are very deep at QB, especially if/when Jimmy G gets a starting job. That pick may end up being the most valuable piece in the deal.

I see travdogg's POV, but it's a start 2QB league, so I think Watson has more value than that.  If I am going to deal a QB, I want more than Hooper and a 2018 mid first, one where you probably will miss out on the elite prospects.

Also remember that Big Ben is contemplating retirement in 2018, Cutler is probably just a one year stopgap in MIA, and Garoppolo might not be the NE starter for a few more years.  So next year, you may be down to Stafford, Wentz and Watson as your QBs.

I can see doing the deal if his QB depth was more secure for the next 2-3 years.

side note, I made this trade and I did it for a reason I didn't think about until right after I posted this. This trade opened up 2 spots on my roster (I ended up throwing in Jay Cutler). With those two open spots I nabbed both Kenneth Dixon (IR Stash now), JJ Nelson, and Mack Hollins. Not a bad haul, when you consider all the players I got out of it.

I think that your opponent/trade partner comes out better in this start 2 QB league both this season and in the future, since you traded quality for quantity (and a mid 2018 1st which is a 50-50 roll of the dice). You have no picks for two seasons since you opted to trade them away for "I presume" quality players which you've now given up for a bunch of ?????
