I am in favor of open immigration. But according to the laws we have right now, illegal immigrants are just that: they are here illegally. They broke the law coming here. It was a misdemeanor, so they ought to pay a fine. They shouldn't be deported, but they should be punished appropriately- which means a fine. Then they should be allowed to stay.

The United States is based upon the Bill of Rights. Like it or not, that's the bottom line. ACA, immigration, puppy mills, whatever...doesn't matter.Granted, that leaves a lot of room for discussion.
