Autopilot option on CBS Live Drafts (1 Viewer)

I am the commish of a 12-team league. We get together for the draft and I enter the players into CBS as they are selected by each team. To do this I have always selected the "Offline Draft" option.

This year we have one owner that will not be able to attend the draft. He hasn't found anyone to draft for him so I offered to have my 25 year old son draft his team and he was fine with that but a few owners are complaining that it would be a conflict of interest. So to avoid any controversy I suggested that he generate a ranked list and we'll use CBS' Draft Robot to pick for his team.

As I understand it, I'll need to switch to an "Online Draft" in order to use the Draft Robot but I want to make sure that "AutoPilot" is turned ON only for the absentee owner and OFF for everyone else (none of them draft by computer). Does anyone know if the commissioner has the ability to turn on/off AutoPilot for owners?

I realize I should post this on the CBS but figured that I would probably get a faster response here (please no anti-CBS rants).

Actually I think I have the found the answer to my own question. It looks like AutoPilot is initially turned off and only turns on when the timer expires. So all I need to do is wait for the clock to expire on the absentee owner and the site will start making picks for him.

Yes, but you can set it as well...

Not familiar with Auto-pilot but isn't there a danger when drafting from a list that he could draft too many players from one position. For example, if he ranked QBs higher than the rest of the league could he end up getting 3 or 4 instead of 1 or 2.

I think that is a danger although in our 2-QB start league it won't be QB that will be the issue. What I am worried about is him not having a kicker but I am thinking of offering him 3 or 4 free transactions before the season starts to make adjustments to his roster.

If you have a minimum set for each position (e.g. 1 kicker), auto pilot will follow that to ensure that the minimums are met for each position. However, if you set minimums for each position prior to the draft, be aware that all teams must draft to meet those minimum requirements even if you manually enter them as you indicate. Again, for example, if you've set a minimum of 1 kicker and you're down to the last round with a team that hasn't yet drafted a kicker and you're ready to enter that team's pick -- CBS will not allow you to draft anything but a kicker for that team. I mention this only because some leagues don't set minimums until after the draft is over so that teams don't have to draft a kicker and can pick one up off waivers later but still in time for week 1 games. But in that case, then you have no control over auto pilot making sure all positions are covered.

I believe the CBS AutoPilot selects a full starting lineup before backups, so he may end up picking his kicker and defense before his 3rd RB, for example. Then all backups are drafted by his ranking. Sometimes an owner will not go deep enough in their rankings to push down defenses and kickers (which score many points but have little value), so he could also end up selecting 1 backup RB, 1 backup WR, and 4 backup defenses (this has happened in my leagues in the past).

Thanks for the info. I have the minimum number of kickers as 1 and I think we can live with forcing everyone to draft one.
