Baltimore at Buffalo (1 Viewer)

At the risk of being very unpopular in this thread, I kind of sympathize with Suggs on that one. EJ is a live runner on that play, and that wasn't a violent tackle.

The personal foul seemed kind of bogus, but it looks like the first officiating break for the Bills.
LMAO...you're kidding, right?

the QB was KNEELING DOWN. you can't TACKLE him there, let alone rip his helmet off. ONe of the easiest calls to make ever

He was waiting to kneel and just went down as Suggs had already started lunging at him. His helmet could have come off incidentally.

I'm assuming the people who think that was a good call didn't see the previous play(s) where the Bills were milking the clock on the kneel down? Otherwise, I don't know what to tell you.

problem was he didn't kneel straight down . He got cute
The NFL 2013 you drill a QB on a "cute" play you will get a penalty 100 out of a 100 times.

Suggs knows better, at least he better. It was a dumb play.

Maybe I'm crazy, but generally hitting a player in the neck and ripping him down so hard that his helmet comes off seems like it should be a penalty in my book. difference of opinion, I guess.

Totally agree. Manuel didn't even go straight down , he was trying to kill an extra second or two
Suggs was a bit extra rough, but it was a questionable call considering how cheesy the Bills kneeling play was. EJ was purposely trying to suck more clock instead of giving himself up. That demands contact, and FAST.

No, you're right. But the Bills were getting cute with the kneel play. They baited Baltimore, in a sense.

That is an atrocious overturn. There is no alternative universe anywhere where that is indisputable visual evidence that would justify overturning the call on the field.
Ya I thought he controlled it all the way and then dropped the ball on purpose. Meh.

Sorry for interrupting the arguing on the meaningless roughing call at the end.

Yes, he is a live runner but it was the head jerk at the end of the tackle that ripped of Manuel's helmet and drew the flag. At first glance, I thought it was a really crappy call but on replay you can see Suggs jerk his head sideways...good call.

How many times is Manuel going to under throw wide open deep receivers? This is getting old. He needs to start hitting these asap. Being a rookie isn't an excuse. He's left a LOT of points out there through 4 games on badly thrown deep balls.
Agreed. He REALLY needs to start hitting, or at least overthrowing those, especially when Goodwin comes back.

I thought it was a terrible call. Seemed to me like Suggs was well within his rights to go at him like he did. Player's helmets come off all the time so that doesn't cut it as being grounds for unnecessary roughness. Bad call by the officials for sure. Manuel was trying to milk the clock and got drilled for it. Clean hit and should not have been penalized.

Cant make contact with the QBs head.

:end:
As soon as an official sees the QB's helmet forcefully ripped off, the flag is coming out. Geez, they will throw flags for a glancing hand across the facemask for a split second. Suggs ripped off Manuel's helmet.

And truthfully, Suggs just needed to touch him. Even if the call is borderline, Suggs should know better.

I'm glad the Bills won this game, it looked like it was following the all-too-familiar heatbreaking script. Maybe the last second win over the Panthers and this win will exorcise the demons of the past.

How did the Ravens have 54 drop backs and only 9 rushes?
Had to be their gameplan. Rice was ailing and the Bills secondary is almost all backups. They got shredded by Geno Smith last week, so logic says let their $20 million dollar man eat them alive.

Too bad he threw 5 ints. :lmao:

The little nugget that Fred Jackson passed Cribbs to become the third all-time leading rusher in Bills history deserves a comment.

I LOVE Fred Jackson. He fought his way on to the roster and has been the best running back the Bills have had (despite their penchant for drafting RBs in the first round) despite being discounted year after year. He can do anything the position requires of him, and shows a lot of heart and passion while doing it. Congrats Fred!
