Bands/Musicians you regret missing out on (1 Viewer)

SRV. I should've been at the El Mocambo.
Stevie Ray is a great call. I distinctly remember when he came through Pittsburgh and for some reason I could not go to the concert. I assumed I'd catch him the next time around. So sad that never happened.
I was thankful to catch him when he toured with Jeff Beck
 Philly Spectrum. Also in '88 with Robert Plant.
Caught that tour in Worcester, as a high schooler. SRV was great and Terry Bozzio drumming for Back was unreal.

I've been to a lot of Widespread Panic shows, and I regret not seeing them more before Mikey died. Though, I was pulling some quality tail at that time, so I kind of give myself a pass.
They lost their luster for me when he died. Even took him for granted when he was around. They were a machine there for awhile. Haven't seen them since Red Rocks in 1998. And Jimmy Herring was just about my most hated guitar player when he took the job. I heard a show with him from relatively recently and he has completely revamped his approach to soloing. Much less Yngwie-esque/fusion and much more melodic. Has somewhat of a paragraph approach to soloing now and isn't afraid to let the music breath. Sounded almost Jerry like. Couldn't believe it was the same guy. So I might give a live show another shot one of these days. I guess Duane Trucks has taken over on the kit.

Had tickets in hand to see him and Clapton the night after he died. Devastating.

Motorhead. Rage against the Machine. John Lee Hooker.

The majority of my 100+ Panic shows were with Mikey and even got to hang out with him after a show in the bowels of the Warfield. Not sure why pulling quality tail prevented you from hitting shows though and the Panic sluts at the Mikey shows were very hot. I always loved the hot southern broads that were into Panic.

I've been to probably 100 Panic shows, maybe 30 of those were with Houser. I'm thankful I was able to see him that much. I'd trade in my 25-30 or so George McConnell shows for 1 pre-hiatus Phish Show.

My regret is that Phish took a 4 year hiatus right when I was 18-22 years old. I was able to see Phish 2.0 four times, the "final" Coventry shows being 2 of those. It was average at best.

Was able to see them this past summer and they were smoking.
Nice. I didn't realize there were really any Panic fans on here until I saw the replies in this thread. I remember that hiatus and I think I was about the same age. I was never big on Phish, though I've always liked them, but I had a lot of friends that were definitely bummed about it. I do hear that they've been tearing it up lately.

Unfortunately, I was still pretty young when he was around and didn't realize how little time I had to see it. I've seen probably 2-3 Panic shows a year for the past 10 years or so, and Jimmy has really progressed from how he was when he first got there. He has always been able to do what few can on a guitar, but it just flows much better with the rest of the band now and seems less forced.

I was at the Alpharetta show a few months ago, which I'm pretty sure was Duane's first show, and I thought he sounded great.

I think I was fairly drunk when I posted that, so I'm not sure where I was going with the tail thing, other than that I was young at the time and almost always had a girlfriend. But I did miss out on some Mikey shows for whatever reason that my good friends made it to, and I regret missing out when they bring them up.

That's really cool that you got to hang out with him. RIP Mikey :(
