In 2004, Kevan Barlow was a Top 10 pick in many fantasy drafts who was arguably the biggest bust of the year.

In 2005, Kevin Jones followed suit.

Will Cadillac Williams be next?

Yes it's early and yes the Bucs have faced one terrific defense and another improved one but the early returns on Cadillac have been extremely negative. And honestly, that's being kind.

In two games, he's yet to reach the 40-yard mark. He hasn't come anywhere near the end zone and his team looks absolutely terrible. He certainly hasn't been helped by Chris Simms' poor play at QB, but one thing about elite RBs is they can often make the talent around them better during difficult times. In the first two games this season that is something I did not see Williams do. Instead, he went nowhere just like everyone else.

Again, I realize fully that two games does not a season make. There is still plenty of time for Cadillac to turn things around and possibly things will get better next week at home against a Carolina team that's also in disarray and was blasted by Warrick Dunn in Week 1 and by Chester Taylor today. So it's very possible that the Cadillac Williams who won the Rookie of the Year award last season will soon emerge and put these dismal first two games firmly in the past.

But the early signs with Williams are troubling to say the least. He hasn't been productive; he hasn't looked explosive; he's already hobbling at least a bit and his team is having serious issues around him.

It's definitely too soon to call him a bust, but it may not be too soon to start being at least a little concerned that a slam-dunk first-round pick in every fantasy draft this year has yet to come close to playing like one.

after really watching him closely today, i still can't believe how utterly unimpressive kevin jones is. i thought he was a sure thing coming out of school.

Caddy Williams this year had all the same warning signs that Kevin Jones did last year- almost all of his numbers came against brutally bad defenses. I'm personally not at all surprised that he's struggling now.

And the unbelievable ability to rack up massive percentages of his yardage in garbage time. That's the sole reason I avoided him...he's useless until about his 20th carry. (yes, it's an exaggeration, but my point is still there.)

My concerns with Cadillac have never revolved around his talent. I think he's a very talented RB. The concerns I've had resided more with the fact he isn't a good receiver so he loses snaps there and he'd likely lose at least a handful of TDs to Alstott. I'm not a Simms fan so I'd already factored that into my projections for this season. Even with all of that I still believed Cadillac would be a lower-end RB1 due mainly to the weakness of the RB position this year. But it's been amazing to me how absolutely brutal he's been so far. Again, it's just two games and he's faced at least one standout defense but I think he's capable of much more. If he doesn't have a big week at home next week against a Carolina run defense that's been pretty bad so far then it may be time to officially be concerned about him.
