Beanie had surgery on a torn MCL? (1 Viewer)

It's difficult to keep secrets in the NFL, but the Cardinals did a nice job hiding that running back Beanie Wells had knee surgery a few weeks back.

Wells told Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic that the surgery was to repair a torn MCL. Wells was listed as questionable on the injury report the last two weeks, but it appears the Cardinals may have been targeting Week Three for his return all along.

Now we know we why.

"He cleaned it out, but it wasn't like a normal procedure where you are down 'X' amount of weeks," coach Ken Whisenhunt said on Friday.

Wells is expected to suit up for Arizona's home opener against the Raiders Sunday, but Whisenhunt wouldn't guarantee it.

I hate this. This guy is a walking injury. Partially torn MCL and now they are going to play him when he is not "in football shape". They should have announced at the beginning of the season that they are sitting him for 6 weeks and be done with it. I need him to have one good game so I can trade him and be done with the headache.

is this like that Gates post that almost made me poop my pants 5 minutes ago?

(check your WW in a couple of hours for either of those players in case the rumor went viral (without the date) and someone even more naive actually dropped them)

I thought I read meniscus, not MCL?
PFT even linked to Somers' tweet that was torn meniscus, but then wrote MCL in the article: linkI don't expect NFL reporters to be able to point to the meniscus and the MCL on an anatomy chart (I couldn't), but they should at least recognize that they are two different things.

I don't think anything could beat Ben Watson's rookie year when he tore his ACL in the first game of the season and the Pats listed him as questionable the entire season and only after the season did it come out that he tore his ACL.

NO MORE out dated injury info!

This looks to be the exact quote from Beanie to Kent Somers:

Beanie Wells: "I had my knee scoped, I had to take some time off and I'm back from it. It was a torn meniscus."

I hate the "walking injury" line. All bigger RBs get banged up and Bennie is on par with with the rest of the NFL.

Hightower is the RB to own in Arizona. He has better burst and lateral movement than Wells. Now even more so. (non-Hightower owner)

dude couldn't stay healthy in college either. not sure why people are suprised he's injury prone.

he played in all 16 games last year and only missed 2 during his college days. So he gets dinged, but he plays.

 In case you're wondering why people are excited to see him get back into action
Why Hightower is a steal vs Wells

:jk:

I wonder if the NFL will look at this at all--as he had surgery and AZ didn't say anything... was he really 'questionable' a week after surgery?

p.s. Hightower really has been a steal so far though... got him super late and he's been a great RB2.

he missed three in his junior year. not sure how many he missed before that, but it seems like he left a lot of games too.

No doubt Hightower has been a GREAT value to his owners. He's the 10th highest scoring RB in my league and he went in the 10th round. That said it is obvious how much better of a runner that Beanie is. Watching the highlights, THT looks like a highschool player compared to him. If he can stay healthy, Beanie's superior speed, power, and athleticism are going to get him on the field. I'm actually encouraged with the fantasy production that THT has put up given his pedestrian performances. I can only hope that Beanie picks up where Hightower left off (RB1 numbers). Arizona's schedule is also butter soft. So many juicy matchups.
