beans and rice (1 Viewer)

Black beans, Saffron Rice, Sweet Corn, Tomato, Onion, Chipotle in Adobo Lime Juice, Cilantro, Cumin, and Smoked Paprika.

Monday: Red Beans & Rice w/ andouille

Tuesday: White Beans & Rice with ham hock

Wednesday: Black-eyed Peas with Collard greens & Fried Chicken

Thursday: Chick Peas, Lentils, and Curried Lamb

Friday: Black Beans & Yellow Rice with stewed chicken

Saturday: Butter Beans & Honey Ham

Sunday: Purple Hull Peas & wild rice with a nice apricot nectar glazed Cornish Hen

Louisiana Popcorn Rice when available.

 
Not sure about Basmati (enjoy it at Indian buffet), but I can vouch for the taste and convenience of Jasmine rice. I get the huge bag from Costco and I crush that baby. It couldn't be any easier. 3 cups of water, bring to a boil, add 2 cups of rice and cook covered on low for 12 minutes. Done. No sticking. No butter needed. It comes out perfect every time. I prefer black beans. You can go sausage. You can go cheddar and some franks red hot. I love cooking up some frozen kale and onions, throw it some previously cooked sausage and top rice.

 
Pintos with roasted green chiles and bacon. Andouille would be great, but I can't find any decent andouille around here.

Jasmine rice.

Love pintos. I make a big pot about once a week.

Red beans are nice. Not sure why so many prefer black beans over pintos. Pintos are better by a wide margin.
