I am the commish of a league in Yahoo and it looks like the Bears got credited with 5 sacks now, when it was originally 3 (up until last night_. I looked on my Sportsline league and it shows 3 sacks too. I also looked at the box score and it shows 3 sacks.

Does anyone know what happened and how Chicago got 5 sacks now? One of the players in my league will miss the playoffs because of this and we would like to get an explanation before I make a ruling.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Your league should have a rule to let the owners know when Weekly Results are Final because this happens all the time. There is no way a team should be created with 2 more sacks this late in the week unless your leage dealine for Final Results has not passed. I my league all results are final by Wednesday. Remember some times the NFL change stats 1-2 weeks after the game.

All the box scores show 3 sacks. I hate Yahoo free service, but I need to decide what to do. What would you all do?

sportsline shows 3 and espn shows 5 for my leagues. this is so weird. i went over the play by play and could not find where they could change a ruling on a play.

I'm in a similar where this caused changes in the seeds (and regualr season $). This is what was posted on another forum.

I copied this from the Chicago Tribune website (you have to pay to be able to see this link I think), I don't know who they mean by "official scoring".

Quote:

Numbers game

Changes in official scoring of the Vikings game attribute sacks to Tank Johnson and Adewale Ogunleye, giving each defensive lineman two for the game instead of one. Ogunleye has 5 1/2 for the season and Johnson, who also was given credit for the "team" safety against the Vikings under the scoring changes, has 3 1/2. The Bears have 30 sacks for the season, all but one by a defensive lineman. Last season, 13 of the Bears' 41 sacks were by non-linemen.

This must be the Tank Johnson play.

1-10-CHI26 (12:57) B.Johnson scrambles right end to CHI 26 for no gain (Ta.Johnson).

But I see nothing on the play by play for Ogun.

In other news Wednesday, scoring changes made by the NFL have resulted in two more sacks for the Bears against the Vikings.

Early in the third quarter, Brad Johnson’s rush for no gain was switched to a Tank Johnson sack. Late in the game, Adewale Ogunleye was credited with a sack because a review of the tape showed that he forced Tarvaris Jackson to fumble one yard before the line of scrimmage and not after a two-yard gain as originally indicated.
