Bears running game... (1 Viewer)

Beginning to think TJones is a buy low (especially for Benson owners)...No way can a team like the Bears, with such a dominating D, continue to be a pass happy team, especially when the weather turns colder. Thoughts?

Seems like the YPC is skewed, especially with TJ. He'll get 6, 8, 15 yards then get 2 carries in a row that go for -4. What's with all the big negative yardage carries in Chi-town?

I am a TJ owner for the second year in a row. I want TJ to play well...I NEED TJ to play well. But, I am sorry to say, he SUCKS. This guy has been the given chance after chance. At some point, his pathetic YPC is going to get him...no matter how well he can pass block or how much his teammates think he is a great guy.

Yeah, that 1300 yards, 9 TD's, and the pathetic 4.3 YPC last year really sucked. No more chances for him, he's obviously proven how horrible a football player he is... Can we please stop overreacting after only 2 games?

Once the opposing cordinators realize that Grossman isn't Orton, the running lanes should open up for Jones/Benson. However, I am not too fond of Jones and his hopping around/high center of gravity style of running. It will be the Benson show before long.

Actually, Thomas Jones has sucked for most of his career. He's had 2 1/2 good years of football, the rest has been a bitter disappointment. Not saying he'll suck this year, but it wouldn't be that surprising to see Benson beat him out or at least earn RBBC. Benson hasn't been lighting it up, either, so who knows...

This year...goose egg.If you're a TJ owner and are willing to sit back and see how the season plays out - go for it. The rest of us will take the last 13 weeks (including the first two of this season) to "overreact" and make some changes.

The dancing and runs going for negative or no yards is why they brought in a straight ahead type runner like Benson.

When you find a guy who produces like he's done in the 2nd half of the draft, please be sure to pass his name along to me. I'd venture to say that Jones went in the bottom half of almost every draft last year, and not higher than the 5th round APD this year. That is exceptional value...

Being a chicago homer I get to see both Benson and TJ play. Last year the bears didnt have a QB and the box was stacked. This year the same is being attempted and defenses are making Grossman do it thru the air (which he has done)... When you are up by 21 points, you must run the ball and work the clock... Defenses that play from behind know you will run and sit on it.. With the past two games being blow outs you can't be taken back by minus yardage carries...Aside from the lack of QB play last year, TJ was dinged a good portion of the 2nd half and played thru it in pain.... I know last year I drafted TJ in the middle/later rounds.. this year im sure he went there as well. I dont think you can expect rb #1 type numbers out of him... even rb #2 numbers are a reach considering Benson is there and he will get carries throughout the year.

Any of you guys see Benson absolutely DESTROY Boss Bailey yesterday? Boss met him in the hole, they both lowered their heads, and Benson just blew him up, knocking him right on his ###. I haven't seen that since the days of Earl Campbell, Bo Jackson and Christian Okoye.Hey, it's a start....

First off, Jones doesn't suck, as suggested by Tech. I'm a Bears fan and watch the games. Right now, there is a reason that Jones and Benson (both averages similar) are having a tough time: 8 in the box, or close to it, as well as defensive plays set to stop the run.

What has the obvious result been? Open TEs (where those LBs at?!), open receivers (where's the extra coverage??), and time for Grossman. Obviously, part of this is that the Pack and Lions defenses aren't the best, but part is that they have game-planned to KILL THE RUN. In fact, the Lions did so in both their first games.

I think that, naturally, teams will stop focusing on the run as Grossman burns them. Also, teams will begin to game-plan Grossman better, forcing the Bears back to more conservatism.

Finally, ANYtime the Bears are blowing a team out, expect lots of Benson late. But, otherwise, you can expect Jones to play later in the game. The Bears want to know what they have with Ced, but will always have Jones in the game when it is on the line (other than to give Jones breathers).

That's the scoop from my eyes, take it FWIW.

:goodposting: I see the same things as well.
