Beastie Boys Story (1 Viewer)

I always thought I was young until IK pointed out how Paul's Boutique is just a different generation than the kids today have going. And that Ad Rock is completely grey and talking about why the kids shouldn't have to listen to the Beastie Boys. 

Anyway, the story looks interesting. I wonder if it's hagiography or a true re-telling, warts and all.

The movie is an extension of the live book tour that Mike D & Ad-Rock did a couple years ago. There is a pretty good video of that show here. There's lots of overlap but it's still worth your time.

Back in my high school days when I wore my NY Yankees hat people would tell me that I looked like Adrock.

My high school girlfriend (back right when Ill Communication came out and people still weren't hip to them other than their first album because Paul's Boutique flopped so badly in the 'burbs) thought my vibe reminded her of Ad Rock. She used to be like "he reminds me of you."

I thought that was a cool compliment, actually, even though I have no idea how she meant it. (She wasn't being cruel or dismissive at the time or anything.)

I'll take a "you remind me of Ad Rock" any day.

I was more taken aback by the standing ovations they were getting from old people. No wonder why a lot of things in this country are why they were. We never -- as a generation -- grew up. But that's for another time.

Will check this out later. I was a pretty big fan way back when. Beastie Boys was one of the rare concerts I was in fear for my life. I was at the riot show in Hartford and thought I may be done with concerts after that. Some scary #### was going down there.

 
I stayed up so late and drank way too much lastnight.. watched this, went back to the youtube rabbit hole described above and ended up watching a bjork documentary :lmao:
