1. Set up your My FBG's Page with all of your fantasy teams.

2. Gear up for the subscribers contest

3. Get updates to the Projections and Draft Dominator

4. Read all subscriber only content

5. Win your leagues.

:goodposting: This is what keeps me coming back. :D

There's a ridiculous amount of info but read, read, read as much as you can from all the different player profiles, faceoffs, draft strategys, undervalued/overvalued articles, training camp reports, and on and on and on...digest it all, crush you leagues and sit back as the cash rolls in :moneybag: :moneybag:

BTW...what took you so long? any other lurkers...the $30 or whatever is a ridiculously small price for the info on the site especially if you are a football nut.

I just signed io this year for the first time as well. I can't find half the stuff mentioned in the above quote and at time I can't seem to find what I'm paying for on the site article and analasyst wise. Also, the subscriber contest says it's not available, am I missing something? The DD is cool but still a little confusing...same with the VBD. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I was a lurker too, and then decided out of the blue to subscribe last year. I enjoyed fantasy football before, but was always close but no cigar at even making the playoffs. I thought it was all just dumb luck.

I only play in 2 leagues a year, mostly because I think I'd go insane tracking more than 2. I won both leagues last year.

Coincidence? I think not.

P.S. Draft Dominator worth every penny imo.

P.P.S. BTW, my wife officially hates the FBG website, and is not impressed by my FF winnings.

a lot of this stuff isn't ready yet...it all happens over the next few weeks (and throughout the season) there'll be a ton of articles, training camp reports, etc. that will come out. This year was obviously a wierd year as guys are still landing in places and teams are continuing to be built as we type here so I'm sure it's difficult to start some of this stuff until the dust settles a bit.ETA...to get a taste go to the archives from last year...

Quick question- when the updates for the DD, VBD & Projections come out (like today) do I have to reinstall the whole program again through the site?

No, you can update them from inside the application.ETA thats true for DD, not sure about the others.

The VBD Excel file has a button to get updated projections which is the same thing as updating to the current version.

You should reinstall the whole program whenever there are bug fixes. Otherwise, you can just use the "get latest projection" under the file tab. When you reinstall, it normally just overwrites the previous version but your custom league settings are retained.

I'm a lurker too. I know who Julius Thomas is but I couldn't tell you what the draft dominator is or what it does or even what the Subscriber contest is about or why it is so fun. I'm probably going to subscribe since I get so much value from the boards and the "guys" clearly know their stuff. I think I suffer from information overload from the subscriber stuff - i mean its overwhelming to learn about it that i just go back to the boards. Feel free to enlighten me

The draft dominator needs work. I put my scoring system in and it's just a standard PPR with bonus for 300 and 100 yard games. Vick and Gore were in the 20's so unless it's the draft sucker I would not advise using it to draft players.

There's nothing wrong with the program. Where do you think they should be ranked in your scoring system?I'm guessing Vick and Gore probably aren't projected to have many 300 yard and 100 yard games, respectively, so they're getting downgraded in your rankings. If you disagree with those projections, you can change them and the Draft Dominator will recalculate their value accordingly.I've been using the Draft Dominator for years and I will never draft without it. It's an incredible tool.

Bob Henry's training camp digest will start next week - I cover ATL and CAR for that and have been reviewing the reports from their camps since they opened...we do that for all 32 teams. There will be a weekly report released throughout August. They are excellent resources. There is a seperate forum for draft dominator/VBD app questions - HERE - where the programmer in charge, Bruce Henderson, maintains a long FAQ thread and also fields new questions.

David Dodds and Clayton Gray just released a new set of subscriber-only Dominator applications and the VBD app today - they are available on the front page, as is the now-subscribers-only top 300 lists and Clayton's 159 cheatsheets (pre-formatted and sorted for 159 different variations on scoring systems, including the major national contests )

Enjoy!

I rarely think twice about this annual "contribution." If I only used these message boards, it'd still be worth it.

it's $30...you easily drop that and some in one night in a bar. There is no other FF board that I've seen or heard of that is even close. Every single casual work league FFer that I've recommended over the years, at least 30-40, every single one of them thinks it's awesome and most wonder how they've never heard of it all these years. It's the "secret" weapon...in my main league a lot of guys use it but no one talks about it. It's so funny.

My advise is to resist the temptation to disclose to your league-mates that you subscribe to FBGs for your FF info. The last thing YOU want is everyone in your league(s) knowing what you know. Of couse, FBGs (Joe, et. al.) will disagree with me!

Then again, if you have a tried and true system and make the playoffs consistently in competitive IDP leagues...the FBG subscription could overwhelm you with data and cut into your proven methods of success. I have been coaching in leagues since 1994 and have never had an online subscription to a FF site. The information is already out there for free and frankly FBG didn't have the best results when compared to other FF sites projections in a recent article that compared projections that came out last year or the year before. Maybe try a google search for the article if you don't believe me and why should you? Good luck, I mostly use a combination of 3 other FF websites projections + my gut instinct after reading tons of free information and forum discussions. ~OMM~

Did you read the last line of my post? reading tons of free information and forum discussions. You like to read it all here at FBG.com and utilize their spin on it, I read my info from many different sources. I understand that it is all compiled in a certain user friendly fashion if you have the subscription. No difference really in the end though...it is info that takes time to consume one way or the other. Podcasts can help out also, if you listen to the correct ones. Good luck, I am sticking with my proven methods and once again the article speaks for itself regarding the not so great projections. ~OMM~

I would thinking pretty much every scoring system that Vick and Gore will be 1st round picks. I was going to use the DD and after seeing that I am not going to.

[/QUOTE] Why would you think that? If you've done projections and concluded that Vick and Gore are first round values then plug your projections into DD and it will properly reflect their value.

I typically cant come to terms w/ paying for FF content. May change my mind this yr ad go w/ the FFGuys subscription.

Then you will be missing out on using a great tool in DD. You need to understand what Value Based Drafting (VBD) is. I just looked at one of my leagues with (PPR w/6pt TDs), Gore is 17th (RB14) & Vick is 22nd (QB2). Seems about right to me on both counts. Gore isn't a round 1 RB anymore, and as most FBGs will tell, QBs are usually valued in round 1 either in PPR.

or about $27 CDN

Things I get the most use out of...

Draft Dominator.

MyFBG to get a second opinion on my starting lineups I've chosen.

The Ultimate Strength of Schedule, which I use a lot to play IDP matchups so I don't have to draft them early.

Rookie dynasty rankings.

Daily emails.

Game writeups.

Not ready yet, but here is all the info.http://www.footballguys.com/07contestrules.htmEnjoy and welcome to the world of real fantasy football.

Honestly don't remember how I ever drafted without it.

I used to read the articles, but now I pretty much just do it for the the e-mail notices (inactives and injuries). I've only done the subscriber contest one year, but I'm hooked. I think that alone might be worth the membership. The e-mails late in the week that talk about matchups are kind of nice and then the e-mail on Monday or Tuesday about the waiver wire pickups can be really handy if you had to miss the games that week for some reason.
Subscriber contest is easily worth the membership fee by itself. I think I initially paid for the Draft Dominator and other apps. Now, I pay for the subscriber contest and the message boards. If this site shut down, I have no idea how many different places I'd have to look to get all the information in these threads.

Wait until labor day weekend for the perfect draft articles to come out......CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!
Doesn't help those people who draft before labor day. That was my biggest problem with subscribing to FBG (which I did for several years) - articles and updates were routinely posted later than promised. If that's changed, let me know because I did find the info useful (when it was timely).

I'll be working with David Dodds directly to help get the Perfect Draft articles out much earlier this year.

:sarcasm: Because the articles are always late, and there are several knowledgeable posters on the forums, the best content on this site is the free content. The only thing worth paying for is the contest.
