ben watson? (1 Viewer)

I read he walked out of the locker room after the game just fine. Getting info from Coach B is like pulling teeth. I imagine he will be listed as questionable.

At least there was one good post in here.I thnk it's a bit early to worry, but you should have a backup plan in place if you have the option.I don't - I am stuck with whatever Watson does from here on out - one of the inequities of a small roster.

did he go play in the second half? if he goes out becouse of injury in the first half and doesn't return we have backups system in place. Thanks Dave

You don't ice torn ACLs or broken legs. And you certainly aren't seen walking around the locker room after the game.

I suspect deep bruise.

Speaking from experience, you CAN walk after you tear your ACL (R and L ACL reconstructions). In fact, I drove my car afterwards (5 speed and it was my left leg). Yes, it's painful, but not impossible to be mobile.

You're right, as I have done my ACL too... you can walk.I still only suspect a serious bruise. He took a helmet to the side of his leg, right above his knee. There was no hyperextensions or gruesome bends; just a good hard hit to his lower thigh.

Yeah but how did it affect your 40 time?

It went form a 15.4 to a 4.6, so rest assured that all is well in NE, clowny.

:blackdot: Is the black dot frowned upon now?

This does not help ... much:

Patriots | Watson injured Week 14

Published Mon Dec 11 8:30:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) New England Patriots TE Benjamin Watson (leg) sustained a leg injury in Week 14 and did not return. Watson will likely be on this week's injury report.

Some folks SKI after tearing an ACL - but only down to the bottom - onmce it starts swelling, they do put ICE on it.But, I sincerely doubt a football player would be walking around with the kind of swelling associated with an ACL tear.

If you're Joe Schmoe then yes, you can ice an ACL and maybe you walk on it. But not if you're an active NFL player. Well, maybe you CAN but you WON'T be, not with trainers and physicians and everyone else worried about you (their investment). No chances taken. And yes, I speak from experience too. Heck, I played on my torn ACL for years, but that was many moons ago. Royally screwed my knee up too.

Yes you do. The knee swells up like somewhere between a softball and a volleyball. The swelling creates pressure and a ton of pain. The ice of course, helps keep the swelling down. You can walk with a torn ACL, that Panther played without an ACL. It feels odd but you can walk.

You generally do Ice the knee. Some do swell more than other people. You can walk without an ACL and non active people live without it. The more strain you put on the knee after an ACL tear the more likely you can damage the other ligaments, or more likely damage the cartlige in the knee, causing degenerative or arthritic problems.

TE Ben Watson reportedly wore a wrap on his injured left leg Monday. The Patriots are so secretive with injury information that reporters are forced to literally follow players around the locker room to see what their status is. Watson's status will be updated Wednesday.Source: Boston Globe

I have no special insight despite living in Boston. However, just looking at the reply over and over, it doesn't look like the type of injury that leads to an ACL tear. Watson was not planted when he was crushed by two guys. I'd be willing to bet that it's just a wicked bad bruise--right above the knee where one of the defenders launched himself.

And knowing Belichick we will not know much until Sunday.

Wow ... thank God you took time out of your busy schedule to interrupt us to post that fantastic update. I have no idea what this board would do without your incredibly topical posts

Interesting situation brewing for Watson / Vernon Davis owners. Davis plays tomorrow night, looks like I'll have to put him in my lineup to be safe.

From the Boston Globe:

"Perhaps preparing for the possibility of being without TE Benjamin Watson, the Patriots had two free-agent tight ends in for tryouts on Tuesday -- Walter Rasby and Lamont Hall."

Is Daniel Graham a good play for Watson owners this week?
I was thinking the same thing....
maybe....thoughts on t. scheffler....could be a sneaky play.
I am thinking the same thing. But was last week just a fluke?
that's who I picked to replace Watson. It was between him and Graham and I like Tony better.
I like Utecht this week if Dallas Clark is still hurt.

Rasby is a coach's son and while technically sound he's just not that good.

I'm fairly confident Graham has been outscoring Utecht for a few weeks now
Well, Im talkin about this week......not the past few weeks.
Well for Utecht-You've got Clark out for a week or two and some idea of what might happen. For Graham-During that same time, didn't matter if Clark was out or not, Graham's been outscoring him. So he's already the better FF start. The bonus is possibly more opportunities with Watson out. I don't see how you could go Utecht's way?Does the team he plays allow alot to TEs? What am I missing? You got this far, go with your gut not me. However, I can only reply with what I know.

I just like Utecht this week in what will hopefully be a shootout on Monday night. I dont necessarily think Graham is a bad play either.

Debating between Graham vs Utecht also. Houston for some reason isn't really a great matchup for tight ends, but I can see the Patriots coming out pretty fired up after their debacle vs Miami. They played the Packers after a loss and I think Brady threw for like 4 tds and shut out Favre? On the other hand Stokley's hurt so Utecht could get a few more targets. Cincy vs Indy could be a shootout. The drops worry me a bit tho.

I think I'm going to rule out Watson and sift through my other options. I've got KW2, and VDavis and Scheffler are available on the wire, so it will not be an easy decision. I'm guessing that some of the other Watson owners in here do not have such an attractive plethora of alternatives.

Watson owner facing same dillemma. I'm going with Utecht. Cincy is in top 5 points allowed to TE. Utecht had 7 targets last week, bettered only by Gates, Shockey, and Davis. With Addai gimpy and the Bengals expected to put up consistent points, I think he makes a strong fill-in for Watson. He has a large enough role in a high-powered offense, whereas Graham is hit or miss in a spread the wealth Brady-led attack.
