**Bengals at Vikings**(-3, 42) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

I think the Bengals surprise some folks this week and win another game many anticipate they would lose
Looked like the Jags were going to win last week, the jags should have won that game and didn't

Vikings have not looked good with JJ thus far, will be interesting to see if Wentz can string some wins together and push JJ for playing time

I don't really see Wentz being better than McCarthy was. The biggest issue for this team is their new high-priced OL has been awful. RT is the only spot holding up. They should get Darrisaw back this week, and he'll be thrown right into the fire vs Trey Hendrickson.

Secretly the Vikings defense has been pretty bad so far. I don't see Browning as that big of an issue (I think he's probably better than Wentz) and the Vikings are gonna struggle to cover Chase and co.

I think the Bengals win, and don't look now but will be 3-0 and alone in 1st place in the AFC North.

I do think the OLone has been a bigger issue than it gets credit for as far as reasons for the Vikings struggles. Not that the Bengals' OLine is any better.

I disagree a bit about the Vikings defense. It's been maddeningly bend but don't break style, but if the offense was sustaining drives and putting up scores, it would be fine. They kept the Vikings in both games, last week they got gashed in the run game and did start to tire out as the game went on, but still didn't give up a TD until they let them score to try to get the ball back with enough time to try for 2 possessions.

I think JJ is still coming up to NFL speed, there are times he does look just a bit slow in finding or hitting the open guy. But the game should slow down for him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Wentz be a bit more effective right away though, and it should be huge having Darrisaw back.

Just A Feeling

Vikings are not the Vikings of last season
Bengals lose Burrow but the backup ain't bad
I think he's good enough here

So...

Visiting Team With a Backup Quarterback- 26

Home Team With A Backup Quarterback- 20

Anyone else tripped out every time they use a yellow gradient on the score bug to update the down and distance thinking that it might be a flag because they’re using yellow?

Was gonna mention how little we have seen gesicki with Fant getting all the targets. But maybe that changes after that awful fumble.

I think he's been much better although a lot of this is because of the defense, or should I say, the Bengals horrific offense.

Another fumble, this time by Perine. They were not ready to play. At all.

I've never seen a 2-0 team quit like this Bengals team has. Vikings are playing well, but this Bengals team today wouldn't beat anyone. Feels weird to say about a team that is gonna be 2-1, but they look like a team who is done for the season.

Browning looks a lot worse than I remember, but I also remember he had a bunch of short throws go for touchdowns that year he relieved Burrow.

Feels like his own team knows they're done.

He played 4 years at UW and I saw a lot of him. I never once saw an NFL arm and was surprised he made it to the NFL at all.

I don’t know how you could say much better. He’s had three bad sacks where he wasn’t willing to throw the ball on time. This team has had a handful of false start penalties He has missed wide open guys several times. He looks exactly like JJ McCarthy looks without the interceptions.

He’s just playing with a three touchdown lead and a running game that the offensive play color is finally willing to lean on.

Fair enough. It's a disaster of a game.

Man, at the start of the season I was regretting a bit that I owned no shares of this Bengals offense. Now, not so much.
me too.

though I suspected the line issues that have plagued this team would continue to some degree. so I did have concerns.... but given that the team has performed the last 2 years in the same situation I figured its not a bad gamble. I would have drafted guys from that offense but it just didnt shake out that way. so I got a bit lucky that way. (or others overvalued their players and ended up getting them before I could draft them)

Chase Brown was a Shark Pool Gem all off season, nobody wanted to admit that he was talent dependent on everyone around him but especially Joe Burrow
He was always situation dependent. It was weird that people were high on his talent, he was average in 2024, his value was entirely being Kyren Williams on a team with a worse defense.

Javonte Williams looks like he'll be that guy this season.

Gotta be honest it is hilarious that even with all the starters inexplicably still in the game it ends up being Drew Sample with the touchdown helping 0 fantasy teams

Where do the Bengals go from here?
You lose 50-3 to Wentz at QB, what awaits you in coming weeks?
Are we looking at the end of Zac Taylor as a Head Coach?
Wentz was never a terrible QB to be sure. Hes good enough to start in the NFL. Just not on a top team.

hes now playing in an offense where the weapons are better than hes ever had to work with. I figured hed be ok. at some point teams will get some tape on him and his production will drop off a bit. but hes a guy who has not a lot of recent tape (at least not with this offense) so its easier for him to catch a defense by surprise.

this happens a lot. the backkup comes in. has a good game or two. then defenses figure out what they have to do to stop him and then the production level drops. This is actually not unusual.

as for the Bengals. its tough cuz I felt Minny had a top Defense. but I feel they underperformed a bit up to this point in the season. I think they will lick their wounds and play better next week.
