Bernard Pollard starting at SS (1 Viewer)

Another veteran in the secondary, Sammy Knight, will hope to continue his good play along side a new face this season. Bernard Pollard, an extremely hard hitting second year safety out of Purdue, will start in place of Greg Wesley this season. Pollard played special teams last season and seemed to become a fan favorite with his forceful play making ability. His speed has been in question since he arrived here a year ago, but he has impressed the coaches with his play on special teams, especially on punt coverage. His hard nosed play and ability to tackle should bring a new toughness to a defense that is known for its horrific tackling.

Wasn't Sammy Knight cut in March?

He may be right, but I'm not taking the word of a Chiefs homer posting on a Seahawk fan site. :lmao: .I assume he's saying that Sammy Knight will play on another team ("along side a new face") and that he's projecting Pollard to start "in place of Sammy Knight".

That's not how I read it. To me, it sounds like he's predicting a Knight-Pollard tandem.I'm not saying it makes sense, that's just how it sounds to me.

The post said Pollard would start in place of Wesley, which means the original title (Pollard starting at SS) contradicts Pollard replacing Wesley, since Wesley played FS. :goodposting:

I assume Page at SS and Pollard at FS? Or Vice versa?
If/when they both start, I think Page plays FS. Both are SS body types and have good run stopping ability, but Page has the better all-around skill -- which is why he played over Pollard at SS last year.I suppose it could be Pollard at FS but I don't think that's the long-term plan.

i agree,i don't think pollard could play anything but SS...page might be a more natural FS but could play either, so likely deployment is pollard at SS & page at FS...

It appears they (Pollard and Page) may very well be the starters.

I like the youth movement.
:X Since there's nothing to suggest Greg Wesley wasn't in pads, this looks to be the confirmation we were expecting.

ETA: Ah, crap.

Gonzalez, Wesley held out of practice

The Chiefs practiced without, among others, tight end Tony Gonzalez and safety Greg Wesley. The Chiefs said Gonzalez has a sore foot and Wesley an ailing back.

I still think Pollard will start opening weekend.
