Berrian vs Chargers (1 Viewer)

Offshoot of the Grossman thread. You know the Chargers will shut down Benson and the running game, so I can see the Bears with a lot of 3rd and longs and being forced to throw to win. Berrian seems like the most likely beneficiary of this. I don't like Grossman in this game because of the pressure he'll face leading to a few turnovers, but I like Berrian to get loose a few times behind the Chargers secondary.

I think he makes a good play this week.

I like him better than...

R. Moss

Chambers

Burress

Evans

to name a few.

Anyone else think he could have a nice game?

Debating between berrian and Deion branch

I think branch is less likely to score but more likely to have 80 yds or so

I think SD D pressures grossman a lot and dont want to rely on a fluke td

I faced the same dilemma and started Branch.

I agree the pressure may get to Grossman, but Berrian may be able to break open if they can pick up the blitzes. Of course, if their front D Line gets to Grossman it will be a long day for the Bears off.

Berrian is a good play this week, but there's no way I'd start him over Lee Evans.

Champ will lock him down.

Conversely, Bailey may get smoked by Evans. I wouldn't bench Evans for Berrian any day of the year.

Berrian is borderline WR4 with a horrible QB going against the best defense in the league. He's as bad a play as possible this week. He must be benched.

Disagree. He'll be the number one target on a team that will probably be playing catch up. He has a chance for a big day.

I seen some pretty ridiculous posts from you, but this one ranks up there pretty high. How else do you think Chicago will move the ball? They won't be able to run much, and Berrian is there best WR.

Your assumption is that Chicago will be able to move the ball, which is not necessarily true.

Take a step back and think this one through.1) Berrian is NOT their best receiver. Has Berrian caught over 100 passes in a season? Has he had two other years when he caught over 90? Has he had 1400 yards receiving in a season? Has he had 16 TD's in one year? Muhammad lead the Bears in targets, receptions and yardage last year. Muhammy is the guy with the studly resume. Berrian isn't in the same galaxy as Moose when comparing achievements in the NFL, so saying he is their best receiver is baseless.

2) Just because the Bears can't run, doesn't mean they'll have success passing. Benson will be lucky to get 30 total yards this week, but his failure will not equate to good passing situations.

3) Playing catch-up does not deliver good WR stats, either. How did Henderson (WR2, same as Berrian) for the Saints do against the Colts? 3 catches for 34 yards. Almost a carbon copy will happen Sunday. The Bears will get absolutely crushed and Berrian will be lucky to catch two passes. Guaranteed.

Stats from his younger days in Carolina don't mean jack now. He's clearly the #2 WR in Chicago now. Look at the 2nd half of last year, the playoffs, and preseason...then you'll see who the #1WR is.Care to make a bet who finishes the season with better stats between Moose and Berrian?

Grossman usually doesn't play well when he is pressured, and the Chargers will be on him all game long. I don't think he will have time to throw downfield, which limits Berrian this week. I would not want to start him in week 1.

Berrian is not the WR2 on the Bears. He's the WR1. If you don't believe that now, you will by the end of the season.I've been keeping tabs on Chicago throughout training camp. Everything I've read says Berrian is the number one that he'll probably have his first 1,000 yard season if he stays healthy. He's a vastly underrated player right now.

Absolutely! People who don't know, soon will. I love it that guys like H.K. have no clue, it makes these type of players even more valuable.

WR1? 1,000 yards? Stays healthy? :towelwave: :sniffsbaitandswimsaway:

When Grossman has time to throw, he is a solid QB who has a good deep ball. I think the Bears offense is much better than most think, and while the Chargers defense has a formidable pass rush, the Bears offensive line has been together for a very long time and should nuetralize the Chargers rush for the most part. Berrian may be a poor man's Lee Evans, but I like him this week.
