Best Ball Redraft...gauging interest (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

Footballguy
Hey all,

I currently compete in a couple of best ball leagues and I enjoy them immensely. I am looking to see how many people would be interested in a best ball league strictly redraft. Leagues fees would be around $50 plus site fees, most likely MFL.

Scoring rules: 6 pts all TDs, PPR, TEs=2PPR, most of the rest would be pretty standard. It would mirror the FIX league which I currently run.

Post up in here or shoot me a PM

Thanks,

MOP

What is best ball? Like a DM-draftmaster?
Good question. Let us assume that we have a 20 round draft and the starting requirements might be QB/2RB/3WR/TE/Flex plus Def/PK...and we have an 18 or even a 20 man roster. Instead of filling out your line up each week, we just take the best possible point total. For example...at QB you have McNabb and Palmer. If McNabb posts 20 and Palmer posts 25, you get 25 points. If Palmer posts 20 and McNabb posts 25 you get 25 points. Does that make sense? This formula follows every position so you never have to worry about who to start. Just make sure you don't have a boatload of guys off on the same bye week, that could hurt you just like in any league. This type of league is really good for owners who already play in several leagues where they have to figure out who to start each week. Here's a good analogy. Best ball is to FF, what Omaha H/L is to poker...lots more possibilities(chances to score), bigger hands(bigger point totals), lot more playable hands(lot more fun). I love this format and am slowly switching to it in all my leagues except for maybe one or two that I have been in for 10-15 years. Best ball also is great for folks that work a lot. Not every little breaking news story impacts you as greatly. Injuries don't totally take the ship down either. It puts a large emphasis on those that can draft well and also find the gold in the later rounds.

Fast draft or 8-hour clock similar to the Mock Draft Survivors?
I would go with what everyone wants most likely. Try and weigh in who is in what time zone...so let's say we have a split of 6 East/6 West...I'll appoint someone who can take PMs and emails with lists for both time zones to help move things along. I prefer a live draft but that seems almost impossible these days.

Are there waivers and/trades allowed?
WW for sure, trades will go thru the Commish/Me for approval and as long as the trades are on the up and up I approve them. I have never had to reject a trade as a commish yet.
