Best Ball Rviews (1 Viewer)

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong thread - been away from the site for awhile.

Question - I see a lot of player reviews by our hosts here explaining BEST BALL valuations of players - never played "best ball" before so how to extrapolate these values into meaningful PPR keeper league format values?

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Best-ball is more tolerant of high-variance players.  The player who goes off for 20 pts one week but scores only 5 the three weeks prior is going to give you that big 20 pt. week in best-ball every time, but in a standard line-up-setting league, he's almost certain to be on your bench when he blows up.

There's no easy algorithm, but basically guys who produce consistently will have higher value in lineup leagues, while guys whose production is streaky have greater value in bestball.

There are a number of decent measures of variance in player production out there.  For my money, the most useful (and simplest) is one that tracks how often a player falls below various thresholds of fantasy production.  (Traditional statistical measures of variation don't distinguish high- from low-tails.  But a player who has several high weeks isn't going to be a problem, while a player who sprinkles in 2-point games regularly is.)

Hope this helps.
