Best Ball: Starter Bonus (1 Viewer)

Our owners love Best Ball, but some have mentioned they miss the WDIS aspect each week. I was considering adding a Starter Bonus (Coaching Bonus??).

Starter Bonus: Every player that was in the original starting lineup & scores the most point for that position receives a 20% bonus the player's score. If the starter is replaced by a higher scoring player, that position receives no bonus.

I want enough of a bonus to make it worth putting some thought into your starting lineup each week, but no so much that is defeats to benefits of the Best Ball format.

We are not a purist league & we don’t mind unorthodox scoring. But would it be worth it to add arbitrary points to the final score to get that WDIS feeling & action?

The beauty of best ball leagues is precisely what you would be eliminating. Why not do two leagues?

Yeah, 20% would be way too much, IMO. A team with a correctly set roster should beat the opponent who either didn't set it or incorrectly set it every time with that big of a bonus. That's just my opinion though. If everyone is on board with it and wants to set their lineups anyways, then go for it!

One possible result from this setup is rewarding teams that are not as well constructed. Teams without quality depth will benefit more, less chance of starting the lower scoring player.

Best ball is the opposite and rewards deeper, quality teams. I would want to design the scoring system so the deeper teams are rewarded.

Thanks for the replies.

I agree, it really would not add anything to the league.

I think I am just bored... why cant it be August already?
