Best Comforters/Duvet Options (allergies/hot sleepers) (1 Viewer)

SIDA!

Around September or so, we upgraded to a king size Tempurpedic mattress from a regular queen.

At the time we had an old down duvet that was long overdue for replacement, but with it being hot and her not sure what she wanted as far as a new color scheme...we put off getting a new one. So we threw it out and just slept under the top sheet.

In December it started getting cold so we grabbed an old comforter and started using that.

Lately, she has been having really bad allergy type nasal congestion issues and we haven't been able to pinpoint the cause or explain why they are seemingly far more severe right now.

Though the allergy like attacks didn't start bothering her when we started putting the comforter on the bed...we are wondering if that is the cause (e.g dust mites, etc).

It is pretty much the only variable that has changed that we can think of besides the mattress itself. Which we ruled out because we didn't notice any issues right away. We have done an extensive cleaning/dusting/vacuuming of the room, cleaned out the closets and really tidied up the space.

We also have an air purifier in the room.

So, not really sure what the deal is.

Anyway, since we have been meaning to get a new duvet or comforter for the bed I thought I would check in with the FBG brain trust.

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as material types/fills or brands. Ideally for her, we are looking for something hypoallergenic. I am a hot sleeper so would like to avoid anything that is too heavy or insulating.

We live near the ocean in SoCal so our weather is fairly mild year round.

We have always done the duvet and cover route and something I would prefer to stick with.

I have seen "organic cotton", wool, and also something called kapock as possible fill options.
