Anyone who has played fantasy football knows that once the playoffs begin, whoever has the hottest team for three weeks is going to walk away with the championship, regardless of what went down in the regular season. With this in mind, who is everyone targeting for the playoffs? I'm not necessarily talking about easy schedule here.... I'm asking what studs are going to make the difference in the playoffs.
Westbrook, Portis, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, etc...
I would like to acquire Westbrook but am a little leary of pulling the trigger due to his injury problems. I am also looking at his production and seeing that it has been solid, but one huge game has made it stand out perhaps more than it should.
Portis is another guy I am interested in getting. My worry with him is that the Redskins just don't look like a very good team right now. I would rather have guys on good teams. He has been getting a bunch of redzone opps though.
Steven Jackson should be doing a lot better than he is this year. He is leading the NFL in redzone opps. Is he going to start cashing in on more of those opportunities? He only has two TD's so far this season.
Frank Gore is someone who I am not really targeting. I don't really believe he will finish as a top ten RB this season.
Tiki Barber is maybe at the top of my list right now of guys I would like to acquire. He hasn't reached the endzone yet but it is only a matter of time. Last year he was huge in weeks 14-16.
Chester Taylor is getting a lot of opportunities. Seems to me he is somewhat overlooked right now. Will the Vikings O-line gel? If he starts finding the endzone he could creep up into the top 10 range, maybe even push for top 5.
Tatum Bell has a tremendous playoff schedule. Will that offense get on track? Is Shanahan really holding the offense back just so that he doesn't show his cards for the big games? Does Tatum have the kind of big game potential that Clinton Portis had when he was featured in Denver? Portis had a five and four TD performance to his credit, back to back years in the fantasy playoffs.
Feel free to discuss QB's and WR's you think should be targetted specifically for the playoffs as well.
