Best players to have (1 Viewer)

Anyone who has played fantasy football knows that once the playoffs begin, whoever has the hottest team for three weeks is going to walk away with the championship, regardless of what went down in the regular season. With this in mind, who is everyone targeting for the playoffs? I'm not necessarily talking about easy schedule here.... I'm asking what studs are going to make the difference in the playoffs.

Westbrook, Portis, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, etc...

I would like to acquire Westbrook but am a little leary of pulling the trigger due to his injury problems. I am also looking at his production and seeing that it has been solid, but one huge game has made it stand out perhaps more than it should.

Portis is another guy I am interested in getting. My worry with him is that the Redskins just don't look like a very good team right now. I would rather have guys on good teams. He has been getting a bunch of redzone opps though.

Steven Jackson should be doing a lot better than he is this year. He is leading the NFL in redzone opps. Is he going to start cashing in on more of those opportunities? He only has two TD's so far this season.

Frank Gore is someone who I am not really targeting. I don't really believe he will finish as a top ten RB this season.

Tiki Barber is maybe at the top of my list right now of guys I would like to acquire. He hasn't reached the endzone yet but it is only a matter of time. Last year he was huge in weeks 14-16.

Chester Taylor is getting a lot of opportunities. Seems to me he is somewhat overlooked right now. Will the Vikings O-line gel? If he starts finding the endzone he could creep up into the top 10 range, maybe even push for top 5.

Tatum Bell has a tremendous playoff schedule. Will that offense get on track? Is Shanahan really holding the offense back just so that he doesn't show his cards for the big games? Does Tatum have the kind of big game potential that Clinton Portis had when he was featured in Denver? Portis had a five and four TD performance to his credit, back to back years in the fantasy playoffs.

Feel free to discuss QB's and WR's you think should be targetted specifically for the playoffs as well.

Why won't he finish that high?

Hey Denver homers (SSOG), what's going on with the Denver (lack of) offense? Any reason to think they'll have to stop relying on their defense to grind out low scoring games?

The reason I don't believe in this guy is that he has significantly cooled off since his first game. He hasn't scored a TD in four weeks. He has a history of being injury prone. He is a liability due to his fumbling. The 49ers have begun to work other runningbacks into the game more often.

I don't think he'll completely drop out of the picture. I rate him at about RB 8-12 going forward.

I target weeks 14 and 15 as the money weeks. Seems like anthing can happen once you hit the title game. (I included their schedules for 14-17)

Best rushing matchups are for:

CIN (Oak @Ind @Den Pit)

JAX (Ind @Ten NE @KC)

SEA (@Ari SF SD @TB)

Best passing matchups are for:

ATL (@TB Dal Car @Phi)

GB (@SF Det Min @Chi)

NE (@Mia Hou @Jac @Ten)

MIN (@Det NYJ @GB StL)

Hey Dave,I see why you listed ATL in the above, but given the offensive offensive philosophy in ATL vis-a-vis the passing game, I don't think Vick makes my list as a must-have. The coaching staff seems to have embraced the fact that he is a 50-55% passer 50.4% completion percentage for Vick through week 6 and given only 20 or so attempts per game he just isn't doing enough to generate FP. If ATL's rushing matchups are good week 14-17 (@TB Dal Car @Phi - not particularly good as of week 6 with the #26 Bucs in 14 but the #1 Cowboys in 15, and an improving Caro squad week 16 (#19 vs. the rush currently). Vick is currently 16th in the NFL Rushing Yards stat page in rushing yardage and #1 in yards per carry, but his passing has totally underwhelmed for the most part.

My .02.
